I have owned my Contessa since the early 70's it is an hg-o3 and I have a hg-12 twelve string they were originaly made in Italy inthe 60's and put out by Hohner at some point in the late 60's production began in Japan. These Japanese copys of American designs are very underappreciated. You know how nice the guitar is.You got a great gift!Yours is most likely early seventies.Anyway thats the jest of it--later--Craig
price on my guitar
contessa hg 1 ser #6024
Contessa HG1 model no. 5619
I picked up this Contessa Made in Italy HG 01 from a resale shop. It plays beautifully. The tone is perfect.
If anyone knows anything about serial numbers it reads 5619 which seems 1940s or 1950s. Vintage .
I plan on keeping it as the sound is beautiful.
If someone could date this for me I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
