      Hi evryone…..

I have a J-Station and that is te best…. You can not undersand that from this Black Box comes so much good sound and a lot of FUN….

      I have a RP100 and I tryed some POD’S…..

Don’t go RED Please… this Red thing is like a SUMMER love… you like it the first two days and then you have to go for something else!!!!

The J-Station is much more controlable and has more REAL Amp sound the POD Line6 sound good but it’s to much noise that you don’t need… and in there try to make it better they made something that is far from a real Amp sound…

You may like it but it’s not real amp sound….

      Check this out

: : I own a Carvin X220 with a Kahler floating tremolo. How can I get this thing in tune?! If I start tuning at the low E and work my way up, by the time I get to the high E all the lower strings are out of tune.

: : Does anybody have good advice on how to tune a guitar with this type of Tremolo?

      : : Thanks in advance!

: I like kaler/floyd rose bridges, and I also have a carvin, though it is equiped with a floyd rose. Tuning the floating bridge is a 3 or 4 step process and requires the use of an electronic tuner.

: 1. Tune all of the strings to pitch. Now start over – you see that the string you started with is flat, as are most of the others.

: 2. As much as the string is flat – make it be that much sharp. If your tuner shows 2 cents flat, make it be 2 cents sharp. Trust me here. You have to balance the pull of the strings on top against the pull of the springs underneath.

: 3. Work your way through all of the strings as described in step 2.

: 4. At this point the string you started with will be very near pitch, infact all of the strings will be very near pitch. So you can now finish tuining to pitch.

: Experimentation will teach you the best way for you to do this but this is the method that first gave me tuning success with the floating bridge.

      : Good luck

      : Mike
:Hey Mike! Do you know where I can get a Kahler floating bridge for my B.C. Rich Ironbird.
Do you have any parts or xtras????

Tunning a guitar with a true floating tremolo is a recursive task; you have to revise the tunnig of each string in order to correct the effect of stretching or loosening the string before. These corrections will be more and more small. You have to be patient.
How can I do to get a floating Kahler tremolo for Strat? Can you help me?

I have used the BR-8 now for almost a year, and being a guitar player this unit is really quite a
little work horse. For the money you cannot beat what you get.
As far as transferring our songs onto a CD, what I usually do is I record my final mix onto my PC
as a wave file, then when I go to burn a CD I just transfer the songs from where I placed the wave file
onto my CD burning program and it works great for me. I’m sure there are better ways to do it
but I have limited capabilities in my studio and this seems to work rather well for me.

I bought mine for 00 new. I have messed with it a little bit but not a lot. It has so much to offer. But I not put anything on to a disc. The amp modeling is lame in my oppinion. I play real heavy music so I mic my own amp for guitars. It has a drum machine built in. More effects than you could possibly handle. And you can use the effect live or dry. (record clean, then put the effects on) You can email me with other questions and I’ll try to answere them. It has to be the best bag for your buck.

Someone who thinks he’s the character of the cather in the rye and then thinks he’s john lennon himself is definitely not sane and we all know john lennon would not die of age. it’s just a fact to me, all brilliant musicians die ‘young’. (elvis, jim morrison, freddie mercury, kurt cobain, jimi hendrix, and so on) this is what I call destiny.

: : I was wondering if anyone out there knows the song that the young music prodgidgy played to beat the devil in the 1986 movie called crossroads. thanx

: It is called "Eugenes bag of tricks", quiet a good piece to learn. Steve Vai and Ry Cooder played it. I have all the tab and the sound page recording (the tear out record that came with the magazine) from guitar player or guitar world still in my possession. I may be able to help out if needed.

BTW, a couple of bars of this song are actually taken from Paganini’s Caprice #5 in A. Though this could be of interest…

: I have an AC30 reissue t/boost with the blue speakers and I can’t get a nice rock overdrive sound without giving myself tinnitus. I think it’s because I’m using shit effects – Zoom4040, Danecho and Daddyo Overdrive (how bad is the latter!). My guitar is USA Standard tele. Can anyone advise a decent overdrive/distortion pedal specific to my setup. The knew V1 Bottle Rocket by Mesa Boogie has been recommended to me because it’s all tube. What’s the difference?

Get an old Tube Screamer. They are the sound you hear on just about any record/cd you buy. Everyone has them, and mine sounds fabulous with my AC-30

Yo, definitely go with the Line6 Spider amp. It’s the most compatible amp I’ve ever used. 6 different amp simulations, totally customizable effects, and great power. Definitely a good amp.

: I’m looking for an amp in the 00 range and it’s been over 20 years since I bought one (Peavey tube amp, and an Ampeg ReverbRocket back in the 60’s. Sold them in the 70’s and have been playing acoustic since then.) I want to get back into electric guitar playing. I play 60’s-70’s music (Beatles, Eagles, etc.) and some chord/melody stuff, mostly for my own amusement. I’m trying to decide between the Line 6 Spider 1×12 and the Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus. I’ve read user reviews in Harmony Central on both, but no one has compared the two. Any suggestions?
      : Thanks.

Doesn’t look like anybody responded and I’d assume you’ve played your live gig by now. So how did it go with the RG470? In my experience, if you are comfortable with the instrument, you are pleased with the sound, and people aren’t turning away when you play, then rock on! I have played acoustic for years, but a softball injury to my left thumb a number of years ago left me with a 3rd degree tear of the UCL. Basically I have a lot of difficulty gripping and it never healed like it should have. Consequently it is almost impossible for me to play barre chords on my Washburn, which have a very close action. I have been shopping for an electric for several months now and I’ve settled on the RG470. I the neck radius and jumbo frets, which allow me and my bum thumb to play any barre any where on the fretboard. As far as sound goes it is such an individual taste that I believe it is almost impossible to go on what someone else says. Obviously you will get diffrent sound quality from different pickups and strings. But then again, what are you playing through? I play with a church band (one that actually rocks). We run everything through the house board, no amps on stage. Our sound technicians do a great job of balancing the tonal quality of the music from the sound booth. The other guys that play electric use DigiTech effects pedals and I will be using a BOSS ME-30. So there’s that to consider also as far as how the sound goes. The one thing that I have noticed in reviews of the RG470 is that most users find it extremely reliable–yes, I’m sure there are some who don’t, but overall the consensus seems to favor the RG470 for reliability. If you can deal with the Floyd Rose trem and your guitar is set up right, you should be in good shape. The only problem is if you break a string during a set. No thirty-second string changes with the Floyd.

      Hope this helps–enjoy your music!

      John

i have one of them kramers from musicyo.com and theyre great. I’m getting a second guitar soon and I’m thinking of getting a squier affinity series or standard squire tele. I’ve heard really good things about those models in particular and the affinity goes for about 150 and the standard goes for about 200 (look on http://www.musiciansfriend.com and http://www.americanmusical.com) I heard that teles has a thinner neck- which is helpful for a beginner (or would u want to learn the hard way so it gets easier?)

: i’m looking to buy a first guitar. something a step up from complete novice. opinions on the squier standard fat telecaster? what would you say its on par with? how much should it go for new, and how much 3 years and five years old?

More than likely a stereo chorus, Fender Stratocaster, and a Marshall half stack… and some delay on the brige section of the song. I am no expert, but a huge fan of Andy Summers. I do not think he used his Tele on this one… but it’s always a possibility

: I listened to Zenyatta Mondata the other day for first time in ages. I’m just curious to know how Andy Summers gets his guitar sound on ‘De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da’. I know he uses a telecaster and racks of posh eighties effects that these days would fit into your average cheapo multi pedal.
      : Any ideas?

: Hello I also play left handed. There are several places to get lefty guitars. The first is a place in Houston Texas called southpaw gutiars. They have a web site. The have gibson, PRS, brian moore, etc. The next is ED Roman guitars. I might suggest an alternative to Gibson. Try Heritage Guitars. They are in the Old Gibson Factory and Make a better guitar than Gibson (IMHO) You can get a nice les paul with a good flame for around 1300 dollars. They use real mother of pearl not just the plastic like Gibson. I have one and love it. I don’t believe the have an upcharge for lefties. they also have a web site.

I just picked up an old 70’s Ventura gold sparkle-top Les Paul copy off of e-bay. It’s got a Schecter "neck" pickup installed in the bridge position. It was wired out of phase when I got it. Sounded like crap. I tore the whole wiring apart and started from scratch. I just got it working right thanks to a soldering gun and an ohm-meter. Stock Ventura tone caps are .o47uF. Garbage. Pots were shot too. I put in some good ol’ Radio Shack .02 uF caps and a new set of 500k pots and it screams like a banshee now. The guitar is now well worth the 00 I paid for it. Haven’t had a chance to put it through anything big yet, but I can make it feed back like a mother through my Champ inside my apartment. I love it. Green wire goes to ground. Connect brown and white together, and the yellow wire goes to the pot. I just wish I had another one so the set would match. The stock Ventura neck pickup is just a little bland.

      Tim

I have owned one for about 2 years. I even sold it once and bought it back!!! Mine is a 90 or 91, it was the first year for the 900’s. It came with EL-34 instead of the 6l6’s that come in them now. This head is completly stock, but everyone who has heard it swares that it has been modified. It works well in all situations. I pesonally play Metal(in fact its what Kerry King from Slayer uses), but just tune it down a little, and you got Blues, or, God forbid, Country :(. As mentioned is one of the other responces, it’s hard to get crystal clean at high volumes. Giging out semi-regularlly, it was been very reliable(never failed me yet!!! Another feature that they have is the ability to switch from 100 watts to 60 watts, witch come in handy when playin a smaller club, you get the full blown tone at a lower vol. The louder you crank it, the better it sounds!!! I tried the TSL 2000’s, and they have more Gain, but they seem like they are mass produced, and not as trust worthy. Overall, I give the amp an A to A+…….Briam

: Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice about what to do next.
: I have been playing the guitar for the past few years. However my talents have just been restricted to my bedroom (sorry, didn’t mean to sound like a pervert!). I now feel that I am not improving too much and I really want to be a good guitarist.
: I am slightly put off by the fact that no one good has heard me play and I could be crap.
: Is there any chords/music I should use to practise, I can’t really afford lessons at all and I don’t think I am ready to be in a band.
: Any advice would be great.
      : Many Thanks
      : Andy

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, Andy, and just keep playing. The Rennisons have always been a musical bunch. You might find it helpful to play for just a few people that you can trust not to be too negatively critical. If you like your music, you’ll be learning new things all the time and will automatically be learning and improving. I’m still doing that after playing for the guitar for 37 years.

      All the best,
      John

I installed all new Fender Lace Sensor Gold pickups in my 1989 Strat, including a humbucker in the bridge (it was already routed that way). I thought they were awesome pickups. I ended up selling the guitar but I never had a problem with it.

Good choice! I’ve owned one for about a year(An Affinity, White/White/rosewood fretboard.), and I Love it. I was actually shopping for a Mexi Standard Fender, but I was surprised to find that I liked the sound of the Squier better, it has more punch, but still has that signiture Strat tone. This has got to be the best 00.00 Guitar on the Planet, it looks, plays and sounds like a Strat SHOULD. The only thing on it that’s noticably cheaper than the Mexi Standard, are the tuners(they are alot like the ones CBS used) – but they seem to work fine, and it stays in tune, so I’m not complaining. I’ve owned several "Real" Strats, including a vintage ’68, which I’ve always regretted selling, and This one reminds Me alot of that Guitar. I play it quite alot, and it’s holding up fine – I’m hanging on to this one! =)

Guitars: Gibson SGs. He’ll use the Standard, ’61 Reissue and Customs. He has worked with Gibson to make a Signature SG. I don’t think he plays these models much, however. Every once in a while you can see him playing a Gibson ES-335. Amps: Marshall Vintage. He owns and uses many Marshall amps. For the studio he’ll use a Marshall JTM-45. For live performances Angus will use four Marshall 1959SLPs. He plugs into the top left input, (high treble, full power.) Hope that helps.

      >>>Yeah, FB nailed it. I have the 2100 SL-X and that thing can be more versatile (not on the fly) than a lot of people give it credit for.

I’ve recently gotten into just plugging straight into the head and experimenting. So far, besides the usual heavy overdrive, I’ve gotten a better than ‘decent’ clean tone (my main guitar has had the tone control removed, so when I turn down the guitar’s volume control it brightens-up. This is a huge factor) and a close approximation of AC/DC’s plexi sound.

I’ve just started so I’ll update as time goes on. Anyhow, I would recommend the 900 series.

It is the best 60 I’ve ever spent on a music item (INCLUDING shipping! from http://www.roguemusic.com . . . not tax outside NY)! It will replace 95% of the stuff you will need in a studio. Only real drawback would be for recording more than one track at once (it can record a max of two at a time), but for a guitar player that is probably using a drum machine or using a drummer that can mike his gear and send it through two stereo outputs it is PERFECT. I LOVE IT!!!

This is a great amp. It has great tone and great overdrive. It is also very reliable. A friend of mine has one and he has never had a problem with it. I would not say it is a very loud amp, but it can do the job. One good thing about it is that since it is only 30 watts, the tubes saturate much sooner which sounds great! If you still need more power but like the tone of the amp, try the Peavey Classic 50.

Good luck finding a decent Marshall for 00. If you are looking for the Oasis and Nirvana sounds, you’ll need, probably, the Marshall JCM 900, but those are expensive. On the other hand, there is no better match than the Les Paul through a Marshall.

I think the AC30 sounds great with an American Tele by itself with no effects, but, a great complement to your setup would be the Boss Blues Driver. It has the sweetest overdrive! It would sound great with your gear. Plus, it’s a Boss so you know it will last forever. Good luck!

Have you looked at the Yamaha’s? Personally, I am not a fan of either of the other two choices. My first guitar was a Yamaha FS310. I got it about 14 years ago and it still is in good shape and sounds good.

The Sample and Play doesn’t work terribly well. The best way to use it seems to be on "loop". Press the pedal fully forward and the light will flash. As soon as you begin to play (make sure you are loud enough for your sample to register) the recorder will kick in. The problem is: you only have 8secs. max. to get your sample down. Miss a semi-quaver and you’re stuffed. the whole thing is so hit and miss, I tend to miss it out all together. If you have any good patches, let me know. Cheers!

: Does anybody here own or have an opinion about Carvin DC127 guitars? I’m in the market and I’m really considering a Carvin.

      : Thanks!

I bought my first carvin back in 89. bought two more since. still have all 3. ben agata said can’t do better for the money…i say can’t do better at twice the money. I have never had anything break, warp, fall off, and only the lock nut on the 89 has worn out (carvin doesn’t make the nut). its a guitar that you can play without any other concerns. just play.

I bought a Carvin SC90 last year and it was the BIGGEST mistake I ever made as far as guitars go. The guitar arrived with a few dings and a glue joint up the back of the neck that I could feel with my left thumb while playing. After about a month my band was doing a show at MARTYRS in Chicago and in the middle of a solo the neck pickup quit! Next, one of the locking tuners froze up. Carvin was glad to replace the one tuner but 10 days later they sent me a BASS tuner. (I don’t have a bass) After fussing and fighting with Carvin I received a refund. I have two friends with failing Carvin amps who haven’t been as lucky as me. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

try an ibanez tube screamer. the ts10 or ts7 are my favorites. only use enough of the effect to hear the effect without losing the original sound of the guitar. once you cant tell what kind of guitar it is; you have too much effect . this is true for all effects, unless you are trying to hide shitty guitar playing with a bunch of noise.

I own 3 JCM900’s… I think that they are the best Marshalls ever made, depending on the style of music you are playing. I have two "High Gain Master Volume" heads, and one "High Gain Dual Reverb" head. The dual reverb is way more versitle, but the master volume has more punch than Mike Tyson… I can even get a great blues sound with the reverb head. If you are not concerned with reverb, or any kind of clean sound, go with a Master Volume, otherwise the Dual Reverb is the ticket.

Dude, I gotta go with Ibanez on this one for the guit.
Play a few, find one you like. As far as amps, for my money, there is nothing on the market thats sounds better per dollar than a Peavey classic 50. These are available new for 00-000, but can be pickied up used @ substantial savings. I bought one used on E-Bay for 50. They aren’t "top of the line" but the soundquite good, are quite versatile, and they are economically more attainable than other amps such as a Fender Pro-Sonic or anything by Roland or Marshall

      Hi Keith,
Recording a 12 string guitar as with any acoustic guitar is always a matter of trial and error. The method John and I use, bearing in mind we are entirely different styles of players ( John plays blues and I have developed an ‘Orchestral Style ‘ ) is as follows.
I fing direct hard disc recording of acoustics totally unsatisfactory. The transients are to harsh for starters. We use AT4033 as stereo pairs going onto a 1 inch Tascam 24track with noise reduction in when recording and our when mixing. We also use a 24 bit Ultramiser for mastering and use our own program derived from it’s internal presets. The art is to get it big without loosing the natural clarity of the instrument. I play a Paul Brett Aria 12 string, very rare these days to fing one and John Plays a Guils F212. He also has a rather unique nylon strung 12 string made by Ushida especially for him. Also , it depends on the strings . We use La Bella silk and steel and Earthwood bronze. Hope this is of help. Send us a tape of some of your stuff. Finally , we agree , 12 string guitar is the ultimate solo instrument , it goes way beyong anything the six string can produce by way of personal satisfaction to the player and listener.
      Thamks for your contact,
      Paul Brett

In General, big guitar makers are just too F’ing lazy and stupid to do this right. However, the polepieces are not really important. It’s more important that the magnetic field extends around the strings far enough to pick up the entire string’s travel. Thats why some guitars just use a single "blade" polepiece.

When guitar manufacturer’s put a logo on a headstock, they usually silkscreen the logo on. Obviously, you won’t be able to do this unless you have some equipment that costs too much. I would suggest making a stencil out of paper, mask of the area, and spray the logo on.

: I was recently at the Hamer guitar factory. They said they use a product called QRB to strip guitars when they do refinishing. It used to be available by infomercial. You can probably find a website for it. Repainting is much more difficult. You might want to see if you can get it repainted at a car repair shop. Since most guitars have auto paint on them.

      Here’s the url for QRB:

I posted this down below. Another guy broke a string. The same rule apply but now you replace all 6 strings. Good luck:

First take the broken string off. You will need to unlock the the string at the nut. Loosen the screw that clamps the string down at
the nut. Then go to the bridge. You will need to unlock the sting here too. The hex screw to turn will be pointing towards the
‘bottom’ of the guitar. Loosen the approriate nut and remove the string.

When you put your new string on you will need to clip off the ball end. Insert it into the bridge where the old one came out and
clamp it back in using the same nut you loosened to remove it (tighten screw). Place string thru nut clamp into tuning peg, tune to
pitch. You will also have to retune all your other strings again so unlock all strings at the nut. DO NOT GET FRUSTRATED. Each
time you tune the string the others will go out of tune. It is the nature of the beast with a floyd. You can buy a trem-setter which
goes into the guiar cavity and will prevent your strings grom going out of tun if you break one. It still allows you to operate the
bridge normally. When you have finished tuning lock the strings at the nut and check the tuning again using the fine tuners at the bridge
(this tends to cause strings to go sharp). Then you should be good to go.

I play a Taylor 750 12 string and a Takamine 12 string. Play both fingerstyle and flatpick. Also play 6 string, but you can’t beat the 12. Just recently got started with alternate tuning and I gotta tell you, 12 strings will absolutely blow a 6 away. I say this even though I also play several brands of 6, including Taylor. Gotta love it. I have one question for you though, what do you know about recording the 12 using an 8 track hard disc recorder like Boss? I’m currently using a Yamaha 4 trk tape rec. and not really liking the sound I’m getting back. Using Shure 4.1 mikes through a SoundDesign mixer, and spent a lot of time trying to get the proper placement for the mikes. The sound just isn’t there. Any advise would be gratefully accepted. Thanks, Keith

I love Grant Green’s and Van Epps’ tone–clear and bright. I dislike the standard Joe Pass or George Benson muffled jazz tone. Did the first two players use spruce top jazz boxes, while the latter two used maple or laminate top jazz boxes? Or mayby the difference is in the amps they used or their tone settings?

Greetings Folks – I am researching for a friend who
owns one of these rare guitars, I understand that only
a few were made in the 80’s.
It is an unusual design as there no sound hole – the
sound exits from a continuous gap around the top panel,
      with great resonance.
If anyone owns one or has any idea of the value of
this guitar I would be most pleased to hear from them.
      Cheers – Jack

Years ago I had a copy of a book called the ‘Guitar Handbook’ by Ralph Denyer – it had a few pages about Andy Summers, including a picture of him with a battered telecaster and an array of rack mounted effects. Anyone who has this book will be able to answer your question. If you see it around its definitely worth buying.

Also, I download a POD setting for Syncronycity that used the ‘POD Clean’ setting (Roland JC-120 combo) with flange, delay and reverb – though I doubt whether this is anything to go by.

I got a 2 * 12 cab with it. Its got good distortioin, and a lovely clean sound in my opinion, though when using clean at high volumes the crunch function kicks in and makes the sound more distorted – a wee set back. I have the dual reverb 100w head – the dual reverb is a useful addition. If you want a more classic softer tonal blues/old rock sound, the jcm 800 is the one (900 more harsh), my mate has one, and i like it, i’m thinking about part ex’ing my head for a jcm 800 head. all the best, paddy leese.

I don’t think DOD made a good distortion pedal after the OVERDRIVE 250.Their stuff is crapola! Try the Ibanez SMASH-BOX or the Marshall JACKHAMMER.They can get overdrive or distorted sounds!

Hmm.I think the problem is your distortion level is too
high.Remember, when your amp’s volume is loud you’ll need to lower your distotion level. So if your amp is on
7, then the distortion level should be about 2 or 3,
depending on your pedal. The guitar has volume, the pedal
has volume,Fuzz IS VOLUME(square-wave),the amp has volume. This is too much volume.Turn the volume of the pedal up,but the distortion down. Also, tell your drummer
to grow up.We’re trying to make music not have a brawl!
The drums are always the loudest thing in the room,
let’s not COMPETE,let’s sound like pros.
      Good Luck!

one is able to touch and smell, maybe even taste the guitar before considering to buy it. also, it takes much time jumping around while waiting for it to magically appear, and if it’s not what you’ve hope for, time is wasted! (it’s really not as horrible as it sounds though…)

I was recently at the Hamer guitar factory. They said they use a product called QRB to strip guitars when they do refinishing. It used to be available by infomercial. You can probably find a website for it. Repainting is much more difficult. You might want to see if you can get it repainted at a car repair shop. Since most guitars have auto paint on them.

I was playing at the Kent Manor Inn and we were closing the night with Freebird (as usual). I had been feeling stomach pain all night but I just ignored it. Well, right when we were ready to go in to the triple-lead ending, I shit myself. Not just a little pop! but a real gravy-sprayer. I walked over to my stack and tried to "fix" myself but the drummer threw up because of the mell and the sight. I didn’t nail any groupies that night! Anyone else have an embarrassing situation regarding poop and Freebird?

: SERIOUSLY NO SCAMS! LOTS OF CASH, FAST AND COMPLETELY LEGAL, THIS REALLY WORKS!! THIS REALLY CAN MAKE YOU EASY MONEY!! IT WORKS!!! BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT TO A LETTER FOR IT TO WORK!!!!
: A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are
: now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars or pounds within weeks with only an initial investmentof .00/£6.00! So I thought," Yeah, right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send .00/£1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and .00/£6.00, right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Then I invested the measly .00. Well GUESS WHAT!!… within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about £25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over £1,000.00! In the
: third week I had over £10,000.00 and it’s still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over £42,000.00 and it’s still coming in rapidly. It’s certainly worth £6.00/.00, and 6 stamps. Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works….also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so
: you can get the information off of it as you need it.
: STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of
: paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Now get 6 US .00 bills or £1 coins and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope to prevent thievery. Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a .00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service by this. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY
: LEGAL! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses:
      : #1) Dylan Oliver 385
: Turkey Trot, Hot Springs, AR 71913 #2) Alice, 3204 SW Mitchell Ct.,
      : Portland, OR 97201 #3) Ike, 2900 Canby Ct. , Northfeild, Mn 55057
      : #4) D.Gerow, P.O. Box 579574 Modesto, Ca 95357-9574 #5) James Smith, 2 Bute Avenue, Lenton, Nottingham, UK, NG7 12A #6)William Caulfield, 12 Burncross Drive, Chapeltown, Sheffield, UK, S35 1DJ
: STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up 6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc…) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 300 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 300, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!
: —DIRECTIONS—HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS—- Step 1) You do
: not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select ‘copy’ from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computers
: memory. Step 2) Open a blank "notepad" file under accessories in windows and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the ‘edit’ menu select ‘paste’. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list.
: Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different sittings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.) Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You’re done with your first one! Congratulations…THAT’S IT! All you have to do is
: jump to different newsgroupes and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!!
: BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 300** That’s it! You will begin
: reciving money from around the world within days! You may eventually wany to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made £5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me £1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another £25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each,
: I will bring in an additional £125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional £626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me £3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will
: receive £15,625,00! With a original investment of only £6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another .00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is, do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday,
: JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So can you afford £6.00 and see if it really works??
: I think so… People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this WILL work, for dollars or pounds, thanks for participating.

Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice about what to do next.
I have been playing the guitar for the past few years. However my talents have just been restricted to my bedroom (sorry, didn’t mean to sound like a pervert!). I now feel that I am not improving too much and I really want to be a good guitarist.
I am slightly put off by the fact that no one good has heard me play and I could be crap.
Is there any chords/music I should use to practise, I can’t really afford lessons at all and I don’t think I am ready to be in a band.
      Any advice would be great.
      Many Thanks

: What is the correct setting for the action on the d-15? Can adjustments be made for a low setup easily?

      Dear Kevin;

Action adjustments for your guitar can be made easily, if you do the work patiently with great care. Before action adjustment, make the neck absolutely straight. Straightening the neck will lower the strings over the neck. Next, I recomend that you make more than one bridge so you can try different string heights at the bride. I found that the Martin tone was lost if the bridge was too low. After finding the bridge that works for you, lower the strings at the nut until they are about .oo4 thousands of an inch above the crown of the first fret.

Actual height of action is dependent on the construction of the guitar and the touch of the player. Heavy hands need higher action.

Finally add releif, or bow, to the neck to give the string some clearance to move.

      I hope this helps.

If you can’t do the work your-self be prepared to spend up to 00.00 for an experienced craftsman to do this work. I hope you already know someone in your area with a good reputation.

When I bought a Martin D-15 the salesman noticed that the neck was lightly bowed, the fretboard was slightly further away from the center of the fret board. He adjusted the truss rod and it was perfect, as in strings even and very close, with easy fingering and no buzzing on any string and fret combination. He never touched the saddle/bridge or the nut…just the truss rod and he said not too much either. What do you think?

: I’ve seen a few here that are giving this a thumbs up. I’ve been wanting one for a long time. DOes anybody have any constructive criticism concerning this guitar?

      Dear Bill;

I own the DC 127. I do prefer it over other more expensive guitars that I currently own. And I have two criticisms.

      1. I like my strings low. Very low. Neck nearly straight – string height over the 24th fret measured with a feeler guage is .028. And string height over the 1st fret, with the neck absolutely straight, measures .002. I can tell if the neck releif changes at all, and it does, often. The guitar comes with a trus rod wrench and I use it when ever I need to.

      2. The only other criticism is that Carvin dosen’t seem to know how to install a clamp/nut for a double lock system. I have ordered double lock Floyd Rose set ups twice, and I have sent them both back because the lock nut was not installed properly. On both guitars the string seat in the nut/clamp, was lower than the crown of the first fret. If I did not play with a low action this would not be a problem. But, Both guitars needed a shim and I thought that if I wanted to buy a guitar to fix it would cost a lot less.

To close this let me say that I now own thre DC 127 guitars. All of them have Floyd bridges and the standard teflon nut that Carvin uses. Dollar for dollar I think the Carvin is the best buy today.

      I hope this has helped.

      : Groovon,

: I’ve tried everything you’ve suggested and then some, with little or no luck. That’s why I was curious as to how Fender does it. I’m still experimenting (I’ve had parts in the sun for over 3 years plus uv lights, chemical baths, etc.), if I do something intersting, I’ll let you know.

      Hey Rich:

I figured you might have tried those ideas if you’re at all like me. I’m surprised something hasn’t worked yet, though.
A couple of thoughts: Do all the old plastics change color over time? I think I read somewhere that the white pickguards stay white, but not white pickup covers (on a Strat.)
I’ve successfully yellowed some white pickup covers and knobs with successive very light coats of Varathane satin spray. It’s just a slight tint, quite subtle, but definitely enough
to take the edge off the whiteness. Also it’s a very tough finish. I noticed some ‘antique white’ strat p/u covers that had the top surface sprayed like this also. I’ll keep thinking —
it’s an interesting subject. By the way, though I doubt Fender would be overly helpful (I guess you’ve tried calling them?) —Maybe if you were lucky enough to get through to someone
      in their custom shop?

Don’t waste good money on a Gibby. And I use to be a Gibson fanatic. Depends on what you want to spend. New or used?? A really nice ax for Shred is the Peavey, (ya, I know!) Cropper Classic. Bolt on neck,POWERFUL metal type PU’s. Under 00 new. Heritage make several nice axe’s. My friend’s got a couple of ESP’s. I wouldn’t buy one but he said they’re GREAT for under 00!! Good hunting.

I got a set of these for a steal!
I have a Std. Strat that they’re going in. I’ve played a Strat with these and I think they’re great!
I just want other opinions on them.
I play mostly Blues but I am teached by a Diversed Instructor.
Is it just me or do these pickups sound better with a tad of Delay added to them.?

      Hi:

I wanted to turn you on to a very talented guitarist named Jeffrey Ryan Smoots.

You can hear and download his progressive rock at http://www.mp3.com/jrsmoots. Check out his songs "Intro", "Double Star", and "Wanderlust".

If you enjoy Rush, Dream Theater, and above all, tasty, aggressive, melodic guitar, I think you’ll really enjoy JRS.

You can also visit his website at http://www.jrsmoots.com

      Thanks!

I’m looking for advice on getting a fairly accurate Randy Rhoads sound with a Jackson PS4 and a Johnson JM150 amp. I’m not sure what amp/effects randy typically used and whether I can get close to that sound without having to get any additional equipment. Any info on what randy’s typical setup was and advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.

Randy Rhoads used 3 100 watt Marshall amps. 2 had 1959 marshall tops. his pedals were MXR distortion plus, 10 band graphic equalizer, stereo chorus, flanger, a cry baby wah pedal, roland volume pedal, and a korg echo. that’s all the info i got. i cant afford all that cuz just the pedals itself costs about $120 each. lates

The only way the right hand can play all of the fingering positions required by tapping is to have the properly configured neck and electronic technology. The first ever patented touch method of play was by Jimmy webster on a single neck Gretsch Guitar in the early 50’s. The first double neck Touch type instrument was patented in the early 60’s by Dave Bunker. The Chapman Stick came around 10 years later and used the muting technology in the patent #2,289,884 filed in 1957 and issued in 1961. This instrument then called the Duo-Lectar was the second patented new string instrument in the US.More info on this can be seen and studied at:
      http://www.bunker-guitars.com/touch.html
The right hand to play both vertical and horizontal play must have a neck with the strings wide enough apart to let the finger move past one another, if not you cannot move your fingers properly, a standard guitar spacing is .4" the average finger tip is .6". Another problem with Tapping is that unless you have an instrument with the electronics to cut out all unwanted noise such as thumps when you touch the string, noise when you remove your finger, noise when you slide your fingers, room noise like hums and 60 cycle noise your music is not clean. My theory since the filing of my first of 7 patents relating to this subject has been to reverse it all and play with an instrument which is completely turned off at all times until you touch one or more strings. With this system you truly get the purest sounds possible on an electric type instrument and can get far more range of sound and harmonics than ever before achieved.
Actually on our spectrum analyzer we see as much as 40% more tonal range and our noise level is 120db down which means you actually for the first time have no noise to deal with. It really boils down to this: You must have the properly designed fingerboard, instrument and electronics to Tap properly.
Another thing which I have discovered after 40 years of trial and error is that the typical truss rod neck design does not complement Touch Style play. First the rod to counter string pull is always trying to pull the neck back which gives you a tensioned note and harder bends. It also "if you are tone prone" takes away resonance from the neck because of the tension or stress put on the neck actually eliminating some of the sustain and tone. A guitar or bass neck must have motion in it which is capable of moving with the frequency of the string, if not the string will fade out quicker.
Another item which has become very big to me in developing the absolute Touch Guitar has been using or building the proper bridges and the proper way way they make contact with the instrument. The patented "Individual through Body Bridges" actually eliminate up to 40% of the cross talk which happens especially when playing hard bass and guitar notes. I have now in order to completely separate one string from the other made each string it’s own entity each with it’s own Volume, tone and mute device which completely eliminates cross talk and noise.
As a player and inventor I believe that the future belongs to Touch Hammer, Tap styles of play but I also believe that it must involve state of the art technology and for all those out there living in the past they must accept new ideas that work before it will happen. I have only the greatest admiration for the great Touch style of builders and artist but you need the best to be the best. Thanks Dave Bunker

First take the broken string off. You will need to unlock the the string at the nut. Loosen the screw that clamps the string down at the nut. Then go to the bridge. You will need to unlock the sting here too. The hex screw to turn will be pointing towards the ‘bottom’ of the guitar. Loosen the approriate nut and remove the string.

When you put your new string on you will need to clip off the ball end. Insert it into the bridge where the old one came out and clamp it back in using the same nut you loosened to remove it (tighten screw). Place string thru nut clamp into tuning peg, tune to pitch. You will also have to retune all your other strings again so unlock all strings at the nut. DO NOT GET FRUSTRATED. Each time you tune the string the others will go out of tune. It is the nature of the beast with a floyd. You can buy a trem-setter which goes into the guiar cavity and will prevent your strings grom going out of tun if you break one. It still allows you to operate the bridge normally. When you have finished tuing lock the strings at the nut and check the tuning again (this tends to cause strings to go sharp). Then you should be good to go.

: How do I play with an offbeat or syncapated rythm? I would like to have more of a clapping beat when I play.

Easier done than described. I find that to do this involves good co-ordination between the left and right hands. What I do is to deaden all strings on the downbeat whilst hitting the strings downwards with the plectrum. I achieve a good deadening effect by lifting the left hand slightly at the same time as dampening the strings with the leading edge of my right hand, (little finger edge). on the upbeat I then release slightly with my right hand and clamp down on the chord with my left hand to get the chord tones. As soon as the duration of the chord is complete I then form a dampened downbeat by deadening the strings again wih the little finger leading edge of the right hand as the plactrum hits the strings. This forms quite a percussive effect akin to a regular offbeat clap rhythm. Hope this helps and good luck.

What’s goin’ on with the pickup poles? Damn things are hardly ever directly under the string!
Seymours on my Big Apple Strat, only the neck HB is correct spacing; bridge HB is 1/8" too narrow (though a Fender ad says it was ‘designed specially for the guitar.)
Dimarzio ‘F’ spaced pickups (eg. PAF Pro) have a different spacing yet, and fit under there perfectly! Standard Strat single-coil spacing is too wide for this hard-tail Strat!
Overall, I find a 3/16" range in Strat pickup pole-spacing! Whaaazup, guitar pickup designers?

READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE! I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of .00! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you send .00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and .00, right?" Then I invested the measly .00. Well GUESS WHAT!! Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about 5.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over ,000.00! In the third week I had over 0,000.00 and it’s still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over 2,000.00 and it’s still coming in rapidly. It’s certainly worth .00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works. Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it, as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy! Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (Print it out or download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in! It’s easy. It’s legal. And, your investment is only .00 (Plus postage) IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk – it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and 0,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue its success by carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it’s a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. Here are the 4 easy steps to success: STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST!" Now get 6 US .00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a .00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal!
Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses: #1) Dave Lenz 3915 Terrance Ferry Dr., Joliet, IL 60431 #2) Joey Renna 4145 West Menlo Avenue, Fresno, CA 93722 #3) Sarah Arvesen 5327A Beeler St., Pittsburgh, PA 15217 #4) Roger Yurek 1015 N. Walnut St. Lansing Mi. 48906 #5)ROBERT FARLAM 10 BROKE FARM DRIVE ORPINGTON KENT ENGLAND BR6 7SH. #6)Tony Nason 7847 s Emerald Chicago, IL. 60620
STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc…) and add YOUR NAME as number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more that you post, the more money you make! This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this way, if you are a person of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way. NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.) So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only .00 (.00 for each of the first six people listed above) Send it now, add your own name to the list and you’re in business!!! DIRECTIONS FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS: STEP 1: You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select ‘copy’ from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer’s memory. STEP 2: Open a blank ‘notepad’ file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the ‘edit’ menu select ‘paste’. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list. STEP 3: Save your new notepad file as a text file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. STEP 4: Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.) STEP 5: Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You’re done with your first one! Congratulations…THAT’S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That’s it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amounts coming to you!

Tak G-334 was discontinued in 1994. Serial #’s on Tak’s are as follows: yymmddxx year, month, day and number of production of guitar on that particular day. If 9 #’s are used, the last 3 are the production #’s.

Epi guitars are a subsidiary of Epiphone, a subsidiary of Gibson, and currently two models are made in China or Indonesia. Entry level with retail values of 09 and 89. Maybe Epiphone or Gruen websites can help with older models.

: Does anybody here own or have an opinion about Carvin DC127 guitars? I’m in the market and I’m really considering a Carvin.

      : Thanks!

I think everyone should try the carvin for 7 days. If you don’t like it send it back. You can’t do that with anyone else. I own the DC 127. It came with a neck adjustment wrench and I use it often – but I set up with strings so low that if you blow on them they touch the fret board. No other guitar is better.
      good luck

thanks for the reply guys… ummm, i would call myself a beginner, but sometimes i go hard on myself. i’m open to a lot of prices, but nothing really expensive. oh, another thing, i have really small hands…that’s why i’m in the business for a guitar that fits me well. as for the type of music i like playing, anything but country–no offence. thanks again, amanda

: I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, Posted from remote host spider-mtc-tc084.proxy.aol.com:

: I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars WITHIN WEEKS with only an initial investment of .00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a scam, but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. I figured: what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and .00, right? Then I invested the measly .00. Well GUESS WHAT!?… within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about 5.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over ,100.00! In the third week I had over ,750.00 and it’s still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over 7,000.00 and it’s still coming in rapidly. It’s certainly worth .00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, WHY it works… Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy! > > KEEP READING TO FIND OUT HOW THIS WORKS!!! > > Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (print it out or download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in! > > It’s easy. It’s legal. And, your investment is only .00 (Plus postage on only 6 envelopes…one time only…no repeat mailing) > > IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; No Misleading promises or claims; it is not illegal; and it is 99% no risk – it really works! > > If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. > > JUST KEEP READING!!! > > Here are the 4 easy steps to success: > > STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST. Now get 6 US .00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal. Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses: #1) Lourdes DaSilva 140 The Esplande Apt 605 Toronto, Ontario M5A 4P5 #2) Jordan Drucker 8 Brook Ln. Brookville, NY 11545 #3) D. Rose 2765 Matthews Ave. Apt #1C Bronx, NY 10467 #4) M. Hooper 26670 Loganberry Dr. #A209 Richmond Hts, OH 44143 #5) D. Madore 20 Wellington Rd. Medford, MA 02155 #6)Ashley Robinson P.O. You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** > > HERE’S HOW .00 DOLLARS TURNS INTO THOUSANDS!! Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made .00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me .00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another 5.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional 25.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional 25.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me ,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive 5,625,00! With an original investment of only .00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another .00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford .00 and see if it really works?? I think so… People have said, what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet. Remember, play FAIRLY and HONESTLY and this will really work. GOOD LUCK!!!

: and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars WITHIN WEEKS with only an initial investment of .00! However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make!

No thanks, I’d rather play my guitar.

: Does anybody here own or have an opinion about Carvin DC127 guitars? I’m in the market and I’m really considering a Carvin.

      : Thanks!

Carvin makes good quality equipment, but I would not buy a guitar without trying it first. Good luck.

Kinda funny, you say Carvin makes quality equipment but you don’t seem to have one and all the others say they’re great (all those reviews in magazines do too) and there you are being negative. You’re the one who needs good luck – With closed mindedness like that (trying to hide it with the "good quality" comment), you’ll never go anywhere.

      Hi!
I own a DC200T and it’s a truly amazing guitar. I cannot find a guitar that matches playabillity, sound, versatility. My DC200T has an active circuitry but one day I thought that my volume pot has gone. No way! 9v battery was dead. I didn’t notice any change in tone, except that I could change the volume, treble and bass pots. So as DC127 (standard) has the same pickups as mine (except the active circuitry) I HIGHLY recommend you to try one at your local carvin dealer and judge by yourself. Can’t wait to try a SC90.

I will never buy another carvin—when i recieved my TL60T I was thrilled. the 1st time i changed strings, one of the locking tuners fell apart. third gig it got knocked over–this happenes from time to time. didn’t leave a scratch on the guitar, but it screwed up the neck. not even adjusting the truss rod would help. the pick ups started to rust over after 2 months and the finish was already checking. you get what you pay for!!!!

I like it, but I am having trouble with programming – It says in the specs that you can run up to 8 EFFECTS at once, but I can’t seem to get that many programmed at the same time, only a couple – maybe I’m just missing a step or something – maybe it’s all the pot I smoked as a teenager?? I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, Posted from remote host spider-mtc-tc084.proxy.aol.com:

I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars WITHIN WEEKS with only an initial investment of .00! So I thought, Yeah right, this must be a scam, but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and 0,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it’s a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! You won’t get very much unless you post like crazy. > > This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to t-tle 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list. > > Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. > > Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.) > > Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That’s it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days!

: Hellow! Can somebody tach me some wangbar effects. Thanks!

Is there a special sound you have in mind. Can you hear it? I am addicted to the wammy bar and have been for several years. In fact, I no longer see it as an effect that is seperate from the music I play. How is the use of this tool to be learned?

First be very specific about the sound you need to hear in order to be happy with your playing.

I don’t know if I can help you, but, I can share some of the learning experience that I have had with the wammy bar.

I began to use the wammy bar when I had been using a 4 track cassett recorder for a while. My solos sounded stiff and lifeless. Why? My left hand simply did not have a smooth, deep vibrato. My vibrato was more of a rapid twitch. Vibrato in the guitar or in the singers voice lends the strength of life and emotion.

So I begand to try to figure out how to get the control I wanted. I was given the hint in an article that was printed in – Guitar for Practicing Musicians -several years ago. Y. Malmstein was discusing his trem technique. He said something to the effect that he had noticed that singers will hit a note dead on… then begin to play with it. So I practiced a lick and weather the last note was a chord or a single note, I would cleanly play and while the note was still strong, I would use the wammy bar to get the smooth, deep, tremolo that I wanted to hear.

Natural tremolo with the fingers. What does natural tremolo with the fingers sound like? What does a singers tremolo sound like. Can you do it with a wammy bar? Yes. And of course there is Steve Vai!!!

I don’t know if this will help you, but I hope it will.

      Good luck

      Mike

: I own a Carvin X220 with a Kahler floating tremolo. How can I get this thing in tune?! If I start tuning at the low E and work my way up, by the time I get to the high E all the lower strings are out of tune.

: Does anybody have good advice on how to tune a guitar with this type of Tremolo?

      : Thanks in advance!

I like kaler/floyd rose bridges, and I also have a carvin, though it is equiped with a floyd rose. Tuning the floating bridge is a 3 or 4 step process and requires the use of an electronic tuner.

      1. Tune all of the strings to pitch. Now start over – you see that the string you started with is flat, as are most of the others.

      2. As much as the string is flat – make it be that much sharp. If your tuner shows 2 cents flat, make it be 2 cents sharp. Trust me here. You have to balance the pull of the strings on top against the pull of the springs underneath.

      3. Work your way through all of the strings as described in step 2.

      4. At this point the string you started with will be very near pitch, infact all of the strings will be very near pitch. So you can now finish tuining to pitch.

Experimentation will teach you the best way for you to do this but this is the method that first gave me tuning success with the floating bridge.

      Good luck

      Mike

: : i think i do it right siting down but when i stand up i can’t so how do you palm mute

: Lightly rest your picking hand on the strings as you pick them. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
: Shorten your strap so you guitar is not so low or sit down until you can do it perfect. Good luck.

Make sure your picking hand is right up against the bridge. I actually find it easier to speed pick while palm muting than while not. Is this normal?

: I’ve been playing the acoustic for a while now and am thinking of upgrading to an electric, am thinking of getting an Epiphone Special II, a Peavey Rage 158 amp and a Zoom 505 II effect box, any advice on these models of gear for a beginner electric guitarist. Also the guitar dosen’t come with a wammy bar, how important is that?

From my experience Epiphone makes nice entry level guitars. I used to have one and it did quite well for about two years. Then I wanted another one with better electronics, better string action, and a more comfortable neck. Play every guitar you can get your hands on before you decide on one.

I used to have a peavey amp and I always hated it. The small peaveys have NO TONE, from what I’ve seen. Once you decide on the guitar you want, plug it into every amp you can to see which one sounds best. Be objective and don’t get in a hurry. Remember if you shop around for a month or two, the Christmas sales will begin and you will be able to save a few dollars.

As far as the Zoom goes, I would never buy another plastic effect. The Zoom effects are CHEAP. The more effects they put in a cheap processor the worse they are going to sound. Once again, find the guitar you want, then the amp that sounds good, then start trying to find effects that compliment your new gear.

I also make sure that whenever I buy gear the shop will let me return it if I don’t like it in a few days.
Your new gear will sound different when you get it hame and play it for a week.

Oh yea, the whammy bar is totally unimportant for a beginner. I played guitar for 10 years before I got one and I still rarely use it. I hope this helps.

Good luuck and remember, DON’T GET IN A HURRY, TAKE THE TIME TO SEE WHATS OUT THERE BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING!!!

: for a first guitar I would go with an Ibanez
: they make the best guitar for your money(best value)
: But a Strat would also be a good guitar to go with.
: The Squier series are good for beginer to intermediate.
: But don’t put too much money into it because U may not want
: to play in 2-3 years.

      : I would buy a Peavey amp.
: But whatever U do–DON’T BUY A CRATE (they suck ass)

: I’ve been playing for 7 years and think that an Ibanez
: with a Peavey amp would be a good combe for you.

I’ve played them all and now I only buy Ibanez. Whatever you do, play every guitar you can before you decide. Even 2 identical guitars will feel different.
Get the one that FEELS the best. My favorite shape is the Jackson Kelly but I don’t own one. Personally, the feel of certain Ibanez guitars is what I’m looking for, so that is what I play.
Also, if you find a cheap amp, then thats what it is, CHEAP. A good amp will make an inexpensive guitar sound good. I hope this helps. Good luck and remember, don’t get hung up on names or shapes of guitars. Buy whatever is best for you.

The Ibanez advice is dead on, but go find yourself a 1978 CS100 or CS200. CS stands for "Concert Series" These solid-body guitars give a les Paul a run for the money and you can buy them for $200-$500. They play like a dream and sound great for any musical style. Play a lot of guitars, don’t get sold on gimmicks, buy an instrument youll be proud to own in 20 years…. the CN100 is great. Kevin

Yeah, first thing you need to do is remove that plastic cover off the back of your guitar and you can use the springs(along with your pick & volume knob to do weird noises. Also you can try slightly palming the bar while you do lines or playing cool chords.Another trick is total EDDIE(GOD) and hit different harmonics …then pull up or down. If your real unexperienced ,take your pick, rake your strings behind the nut, then whammy …just to be cool! ron

that my guitar sounds better than my friends. If U buy this guitar
definitely go with the Acoustic/Electric model. Big help playing a

for a first guitar I would go with an Ibanez
they make the best guitar for your money(best value)
But a Strat would also be a good guitar to go with.
The Squier series are good for beginer to intermediate.
But don’t put too much money into it because U may not want
      to play in 2-3 years.

I would buy a Peavey amp.
But whatever U do–DON’T BUY A CRATE (they suck ass)

I’ve been playing for 7 years and think that an Ibanez
with a Peavey amp would be a good combe for you.

: I Have DOD FX86 Death Metal distortion pedal and can’t figure it out. I have had it for about 6 months and quit using it about a month ago. I would like tjo have hardcore distortion but when I play I can’t understand what I am playing. There is no deffinition in my sound. DOES ANYBODY HAVE A SUGGESTION THAT MIGHT SOLVE OR AT LEASTE HELP THIS PROBLEM?

I have the same pedal and when I first started using it, I had the same problem (I couldn’t make out the seperate notes and chords). All you have to do is keep playing around with the knobs until you get it right. Since there’s no drive knob, it can be a little tricky at first, but you’ll get used to it. I like to put the RIP (level knob) about halfway. I put the guts (low end) all the way up. Turn the pain (mids) all the way down. Then put the scream (highs) on the third notch. Hope this helped a little. Remember just keep playing around with the knobs til you get the sound you want. Also try putting all your amp settings on the same as the pedal because it sounds a lot better that way.

Everyone else here has just told you to buy a new pedal except Nick. The best thing you can do in your situation is to keep fucking around with it until you like it. You can get a halfway-decent sound out of any pedal.

: I heard from sombody that jackson performers are very poor quality guitars, and was advised to buy a jackson soloist. how much would a jackson soloist set me back roughly?

You can buy a USA made SL-1 Soloist for about ,250. I personally don’t see any problem with the Performers if it is a first, second, or maybe even third guitar. After that though you should probably try to go after bigger, better things. Try any of the ESP models with Seymour Duncan or EMG pickups. They make really good guitars for not a lot of money. The thing I don’t like about Jacksons is you have to spend at least 00 before you can get a really good guitar. Hope I helped a little bit.

Look up the Gibson web site. You can give them the Serial # and they will give you the info. BTW, If it says Gibson, it’s not an Epiphone.

: O.K, I’m playing thru a 50 watt Marshall (72 JMP) and everyone knows these things are loud as all hell. I’ve tried the Powerbrake, and it sucked the tone (this is the reason i turn the amp up, the sound). I’ve heard mixed things about the THD hotplate. Some say it affects the tone and can cause damage to the tranny on the amp. At the -12 db setting, would it be quiet enough to use in a 100 capacity room (i don’t know, just, like, a room the size of a mid-sized bar) and not get me kicked out? Also, does anyone suggest turning the cab (sunn 412 closed back) around, or will this just get all muddied up. Any cabinet positioning tips? I love this amp, but it doesn’t come alive till it’s just too loud. Any replies would be appreciated (especially if you’ve used the hotplate). Thanks.

      : Benny
:I’ve tried turning the cab in a club, it sounded like crap! You’ve discovered the Marshall curse! "If it ain’t full blown, there ain’t no tone." My buddies power brake on his 100 watt seemed to work "pretty well". The only other offering I have is the Sholtz power soak. If you can find one. They were/are rated pretty good. If I remember correctly, only 1 of the THD’s were rated as good, but I don’t remember which 1 it was. Sorry. Good luck. Try the Harmony Central Discussion. Lots of Marshall users there.

Hey dude dont use the tom shultz powersoak, it will fry your tranny. best thing to do is to get a pedal that you like a use it as a volume. In other words, crank your amp up, then turn the volume down on the last pedal in the chain.

I’ve played casually for years and this is my first visit to a "guitar site". :
: Alot more info is needed to determine the value of a guitar. Your strat was not one of the last USA made. They make USA fenders every year. Happy playing.

An 80’s strat has the worst resale value of any strat. The quality during that period sucked, and the guitars came in wierd variates. The same was true for Gibson during the time. The 80s was truly the time of the shredder guitar. Jackson’s, Kramer’s, and others are probably the only guitars from the 80’s with any value today

: I have been playing acoustic guitar (Eagles, JT, CSNY, etc) for about a year and I would like to take the step into an electric. I like from Little Feat and Sonny Landreth all the way to Steve Morse. I was wondering how well the guitars out there that combine humbuckers and single coil pickups work for variety. Maybe like a fat strat or something – any suggestions?

It all has to do with how much money you are willing to spend. You could buy a guitar that has your specs but sounds like shit, but if you spend more money you will get a better guitar. Guitars might come in all shapes and styles, but usually within the same price range you get what you pay for. Whether you pay 00 for a Fender mexican fat strat, or a Epiphone Les Paul, you get about the same quality, maybe just a different sound

Thanks. : Benny : Hi Benny, I couldn’t help but notice the vintage of your head. Can’t help with the loud thing. I have one of those two. It is possible to create distortion in the amp and use the guitar volume as a "master volume knob" depending on how hot and full your pick-ups are. I use Gibson Classic Plus, and a Patent # (original) pickup. If you switch to these, or similar vintage design pickup, make sure you get the caps on the pots matched to the pickups. Otherwise you won’t get the overdrive power. Stratocasters with 5-position switches work well this way too. I’m going to ask a favor of you, since you also have a 1972 59 watt. My head has been modded, prodded, rodded, and I’m trying to put it back. One of the mods moved the indicator lamp. I don’t know what to hook it too. If you can look inside and send me a photo or brief description of what it is connected too, I’d appreciate it. Good look with the sound. I recommend that you keep your amp stock, if it is still that way. The ultimate solution is probably a smaller Marshall tube combo, or perhaps a master volume model. I know, they don’t sound like a ’72. It is a dilemma we all face. Think of the poor souls who own Marshall majors. David Powell

      : Thanks.

Take your guitar to the music store and try each one to which one sounds better with your gear. Also, try other amps, too. Try not to limit yourself, try EVERYTHING. Good luck

      : thanks

You are asking questions about a very inexspensive guitar. It can be compared to lots of 00-00 guitars. Check places like Ebay to see what used ones go for. Good luck.

I never was good in anything I’ve ever done and I’m definitely a slow learner. It’s a real long story and who knows maybe some other time, but I’m attempting to learn to try and play some guitar and I stumbled on the
      http://www.guitarsite.com/stairwaytoheaven.htm

at the guitarsite.com web site I understand it to a point and then I get totaly lost. If you would be as so kind in your spare time as to spell out for me
as to what finger hits what string through the first four measures of Stairway To HEAVEN Intro I would greatly and truly appreciate it. If this IDIOT sees it spelled out in front of him maybe just maybe he’ll get it. I put a lot of hours in practicing, but what’s practice if your not doing it right?

I’m reading it left to right in each measure and it definitely doesn’t sound right.
First measure I’m hitting the D string at the 7th fret then the 6th fret same string then on down the G string 5th fret twice as it reads and I stop there because I know it isn’t right.

Now I try D string 7th fret G string 6th fret B string 5th fret E string 5th & 7th fret which sounds right, which I don’t know why I would read that way or which way to read and I become lost after that point on what to hit next and what to do for the next measure.

If you could guide me I would greatly appreciate it.

      Thanking you in advance.
      GOD bless,
      Sal D.

: I just picked up a used Seagull S6 Cedar in the case. Very nice shape.I’m in Canada and wonder if anyone can tell me what it’s worth? I’ve played casually for years and this is my first visit to a "guitar site". I also have a near mint Fender Stratocaster I bought new in ’83,which I’m told was one of the last years of the US made guitars. It’s NOT for sale. What’s this puppy worth for curiosity’s sake?

Alot more info is needed to determine the value of a guitar. Your strat was not one of the last USA made. They make USA fenders every year. Happy playing.

That’s a fun show, and the dual at the end was amazing. Sorry I have no idea what was played, but I think Steve Vai should have just kept his cool, started his runs in the right spot as to not run out of neck, and kicked some backside!

: How do you change the pickups on a floyd rose floating bridge with out throwing the tremolo out of balance
You should find a chunk of wood to block the tremolo from moving. There are also special [cheep] plastic tools that slide under the trem to secure it when changing strings. Also remember to solder the ends [ball end] to keep the sting from stretching [if, of course you have the floyd proII]. By doing this, you’ll notice a great increase in sustain..

I’ll tell you I’m not much on the squire fender series. I was just on ebay and saw a Fernandes early strat (who make Tele too)and if you could find one of those it would be much better. The one I just saw from Music 123 wanted $150.00 for it. I was amazed at the price. It was a Retro Rocket and looked just like a strat. If you don’t want the fernandes try the Mexician Tele’s. I believe it would be a better buy for the money.

Price guide, http://www.antiquecast.com , allows searches of recent auction results. Auction search lists sale items at several auction sites. Pictures are often available. Concise searches are best with the 3 most characteristic terms. For ready reference this site is worth a bookmark.
