guitar polishing????????

ok, im not exactly ready to polish the guitar... if u do polish a guitar after u paint it??? do u polish it?? if not, what do they use to make it al shiny???
if i do polish it is there a sertain kind of polish that works best?? like car polish or suttin rather? :?

i would put the paint on (use a dust free ventilated area), and rub down with very fine carbide paper between coats, give it at least 6 coats, then put on a clear gloss laquer top coat, give it another 6 coats rubbing down between coats, on the last rub down, then polish by hand with a compound polish or T-Cut, the car stuff should work fine, then give it a final buff up with a good quality car polish, then use an electric paint polisher and you should see it shine up very nicely, the key to a good finnish is in the preperation, and the rubbing down between coats, a good tip is to wait until each coat is completely dry before rubbing down and applying the next layer. Also if you are using car paint you can get a very good shine without the need for a gloss laquer top coat, but if you want a glass finnish then the gloss laquer is needed.
