    – Press Release

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry recently received his first solo Grammy nomination in the “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” category. The nominated song is “Mercy” from the Joe Perry solo album he released earlier this year. This marks Perry’s second Grammy nomination; he received his first for “Boogie Man,” an inspired instrumental guitar track which he co-wrote with Steven Tyler in 1994.

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee’s song “Mercy” is a blistering rock tour-de-force which closes out the acclaimed fourth solo album by one of rock’s premiere guitarists. In a rave Rolling Stone review (5/19/05), Rob Sheffield said, “he’s just a guitar freak doing his thing in a basement studio.”

In reaction to his nomination, Perry commented, “This record reflects my years of writing and recording and making my way on this planet. The fact that ‘Mercy’ has been nominated for a Grammy is a great honor.”

Aerosmith are headlining the hottest arena tour this fall–with special guest Lenny Kravitz–and they recently announced a second leg of dates nationwide, which run from January 5 to February 24.
