Best Stones Song

Why is it that some people think I'm crazy because I think Angie is their best? Rather, what makes so many people dislike it?
Apart from Wild Horses - the lyrics can hardly be beat. Very true I think.
/Edited to add some reasoning/
Stones riff I have even partly down yet is "start me up"--sounds pretty cool-especially with the overdrive on my amp
That the Stones would do a retrospective album of just the "blues" songs they have recorded in their careers---that I would rush out to buy.
Lee - what is Keith's 5-string tuning? I've gotta try that one of these days.
Said that He uses open G with the top (E) string removed.
Really? I always thought it must have been the low E that was missing.
Blimey!
Sorry dude-I'm a yank I think we both said the same thing--my impression is that it is the thick E not the higher octave one
I was always taught that the "top" E string was the highest string (i.e. the thinnest, and the "bottom" E was the lowest (thickest) string.
I always get confused when people talk about standard tuning being EADGBE because I always think of it as being EBGDAE. When I started playing guitar as an 11-year old taking classical guitar lessons this was the way we were taught. It's the rock world that tips everything on it's head.
Despite all that it still makes sense to me that "top" means high in pitch and "bottom" means "low" in pitch. Surely you can't dispute that?
Can't you hear me knocking,Dancing with mr D,Heartbreaker,You Can't always get what you want,Angie,Bitch, all come to mind.
I love "Brown Sugar" and "Honkey Tonk Woman" They are just bloody good tracks!
Most people have quoted the 68-72 era for their fav songs, Keith actualy had a custom 5 string guitar made for him, i have a book somewhere with the pullout 1/2 scale drawing of it.
Story goes that in the recording of Exile on Main St, which was recorded in Keiths French mansion while the Stones were in 'Tax Exile', Keith had all his Guitars stolen in transit, a travelling luthier visited Keith and got talking about guitars and Keith gave him the job of finding and restocking his collection, which he did to Keith's approval. He then sold keith on the idea of a custom made 5 string, which he made for him.
Ive never seen a picture of him playing it, so i dont suppose it was that great a hit.
And he does mostly play open G with the E string removed.
