Looking for information/photos of 1968 Guild electric
Submitted by GaryIF on Fri, 05/19/2006 - 02:18.
I purchased a Guild solid body electric in 1968. It had a cherry red finish, double pick up, and was a solid body. It's distinguishing feature was a concave curve bottom and built-in stand (a chrome rod built in to the back of the guitar, which swung out to prop up the guitar). The closest I could find is the Jet Star. For some reason, I thought my model was Polara or something like that.
Can anyone help me out identifying the model I had and, even better, point me to where I could find a picture of that model?
Thanks.
Well your right about what the model probably was as Polara was a Guild model that had a stand.
Edit: As did the Thunderbird. Have a look at this site: http://www.guitargonauts.com/pick-29.html
Didn't Bo Diddley and Lady Bo use these at one point?
Thanks for forwarding the link to the article about the Thunderbird. Indeed, the description of the S-100 Polara fits the Guild I had to a tee. Now to find some photos of it.
I miss it. It was a rare duck that, to me, looked beautiful.
Here's a photo of the guitar described above.
