    – Press Release

Olympic boxing gold medalist Howard Davis Jr. has teamed up with longtime buddy Ray Brown (Tokyo Flash) to form the “Tokyo Flash – Howard Davis Jazz Project”. Ray is a former member of the hit disco band Ecstasy,Passion & Pain and the legendary funk band The Jimmy Castor Bunch.

Unknown to most of his fans, Howard played drums and bass guitar in his own band early in his career and has always had a burning desire to show off the creative side of his personality through his music. He has joined the Tokyo Flash Band as his vehicle to express himself musically. The Tokyo Flash Band is made up of Ray Brown (Keyboards), Ron Richardson (Bass), Chango Everett (Drums), Robert Wells (Guitar) and Carlos Figue (Percussion). Collectively, these musicians have performed with artists such as Roy Ayers, Phyllis Hyman, P-Funk, Mary J. Blige, Stacy Lattisaw, and Johnny Gill.

Howard’s music is a blend of funk and cool jazz. His creative sense of rhythm and melody together with Ray Brown’s arrangements sends listeners on a mystical journey that touches the roots of many cultures.

The “Tokyo Flash – Howard Davis Jazz Project” will be debuting in New York City later this summer.
