Planet Waves has introduced the SOS Bass Tuner.

“The SOS tuner will always keep players perfectly in tune,” said Brian Vance, Sr. Product Manager for Planet Waves. “It’s a whole new way to tune that’s super accurate and fits right in your pocket. All of this for less than 20 dollars.”

Shaped like a guitar pick, the SOS tuner uses two out-of-phase LED light beams that shine on a bass string as it is tuned. If a string is out of tune, the lights will dance on the string. As the string becomes in tune, the lights become still and steady, and leave a string perfectly pitched. A dial built in the SOS allows the player to change strings accordingly while tuning the instrument. A small pick provides easy string activation while the tuning lights illuminate the string. The SOS Bass tuner tunes four-, five-, and six-string basses.

An auto power off feature allows the player to keep the included CR1620 battery alive as long as possible. The SOS Tuner for Bass is built to deliver standard tuning basses. Unlike its guitar counterpart, the SOS Bass Tuner is red, and calibrated especially for the bottom end growl of both electric and acoustic bass instruments.

The SOS Bass Tuner retails for 9.99 and will ship in September, 2006.
