Didnt they used to boil up Bass strings in the old days? i was born in 65' too. :lol:

Yep, I read a lot about boiling bass strings. I've never bothered. I'd love it if those who have would post in. For flats, I gather that they should be left in place to accumulate as much sweat, grease and BBQ sauce as possible. All adds to the thump :)

Yeah, boiling strings is for pople who like the twang.

I like the crud on my strings, although I refer to it as 'tone', my favourite strings have 3 years worth of 'tone' stuck to them, come to think of it so does my fretboard.
