Ampeg recording

Hi im a bassist who is a bit new to recording and i have an Ampeg SVT PRO 3 and i am using the pre amp for recording and wondered if anyone could tell me some of the best sounds i could get out of it.

If anyone uses the same could they give me tips and some help on settings, it would be most appreciated.

AFAIK, current/recent posters in our bass category don't have that head. Hopefully, someone passing on a search will look in and give their advice. Meantime, you could try contacting Dino at Ampeg's support ([email protected])

as they may have a general set of useful settings that they can email you back with. Sorry that I'm not more useful, but let us know how you get along :)

Well thanks for the advice and il let you know! I have been experimenting with this head recently and i have been putting the pre amp through my bands P.A and it worked really well, i knew you could d.i. it but wasnt sure on the pre amp. I have to say this amps full of suprizes! theres still alot more on it to explore.

Looking at the site product details:
http://www.ampeg.com/products/pro/svt3pro/index.html
the DI has a pre/post switch so you can select "post" to feed the PA while keeping the SVT's considerable tone-shaping capabilities. The page also has a link to download the owmer's manual as a pdf Acrobat file, although nothing happened when I clicked on it, oddly.

First off, I hope you went to the Ampeg guy that 1Bass told you about.

Next----------- I have been recording with Ampeg for well over 40 years and have found it best to listen to what all the players and techs rell you, BUT, get to know your amp YOURSELF. Talk to the boardman and get the best tone you can possibly get !! It is YOU that will be on the recording. Get tone that fits with your style of music, pleases everyone's ears, but has that little bit of YOU included.

Now go PLAY THAT BASS THROUGH A GREAT AMPEG AMP !!!!

Good luck my friend.

Nice to see you back here, Jimmy. Incidentally, DrHawkes, if you could have a look at the "Guitar" category, another poster is seeking advice on bass amp + cab for his brother. I think the SVT 3-Pro is a good possible and your opinion would be valued :)
