Bass had a thread called optimistic ebayers or something like that, i tried to find it but it seems to be buried further in the mists of time than Haircut 100’s chunky knit sweaters.
look at the description on this, theres a whopper in every line..

The poor sod who won the auction didn’t want it, wonder why?

“An instrument which will enchant you with its sound as well as with its technic and design.
You are bid on a glossy vurnished Bass Guitar of the top-class with solid alderwood body.
In the kidney it has 2 single coli pickups…
As a matter of course, a cabel to attach to an amp or the like, is accompanied.”
Got to love onlie translators…
And there’s a whole range of them, all photoshopped onto the same woman?!

I’m trying to think of a good story for that “not the valve version” WEM amp I inadvertantly bought 😳 . How about “as purchased by (complete and total) Dylan” ❓

Haven’t you ever sold one of your many Bob Dylan guitars for 16 bucks?

Got a cheap acoustic from a catalogue to sell? Fancy upping the bids with dubious “owned by famous artist” story? Try this one then…

I’m torn between which is funnier; the seller’s updated info which, basically, reads like “I just told you a POS” or the phrase “there is an awesome organ input”
Given my juvenile sense of humour, guess which bit I laughed louder at ❓

Sold for £51 !!! heres a copy of the offensive description:
you are looking at a 1960’s sound city amp. the amp has been previously owned by a 1960’s band called the freed unit. the amp works really well on some of the inputs but is really crackly on others. there is an organ and reverb input that sounds awesome. the amp would be for a collector knowing what they are looking for. its a twin cab speaker system operating on two valve inputs. the sound is so raw and throaty it would be a good sound for that angus young crunch of for the reverby sounds of pink floyds david gilmore. the amp is really unique and rare infact its a massive piece of history because sound city became HIWATT amps that now supply bands like the who and jet.
the amp is real big and could only be picked up. its really heavy so i’d rather you came and collected it in person. feel free to contact me via email and ask any questions.
if you live close feel free to come round and view the amp and have a go, i have many guitars from strats to les pauls so you can come without a guitar
thanks for lookin
On 26-Jun-07 at 20:22:35 BST, seller added the following information:
sorry just thought i’d update the listing. aparently this is not a valve amp. some people have told me its not a sound city but i have been told by numerous people that this is a real sound city………. oh and its also a 1970’s amp. thanks

But seriously, folks…
If you see an amp with a black faceplate and “Sound City” in red lettering, there’s a reason why no-one else is bidding. It’s not even a MkIV (bad enough) SC made in England. It’s one of those awful, East German, transistor amps. Avoid.

For once, I can’t blame ArsehOLes for my probs; no trouble with PlexiPalace posts. I think Mike’s installation of “valvenerdboreblocker” temporarily silenced me. I actually bid on one of those “valve Sound City” cheapies once. Quickly realized it was a transistor, East German, yukky and managed to pull out of the deal. Close shave.

His neighbour always swore that he never downloaded the entire Hawkwind discography, but the RIAA would have none of it. Now we have an answer.
Hey, What does A.O.L stand for in the UK?

I think he’s probably having trouble logging onto his neighbours wireless hub, i bet the poor sod has finally worked out where all his bandwidth has been going, AOL is just a smokescreen. 😆

July 24, 2007 at 6:51 am #71642MichaelParticipant
It all boils down to his use of AOL I rekon. You hear that 1b, you hear that

That dodgy copy of Windows XP with a product key that has had more abuse than Elton Johns wig has come back to haunt him, again.

1b was unfortunately suffering some login in troubles.
I did make some upgrades the other day to this board, but I did not find any issues testing or have any other reports. It could be related so i’m waiting to here back from 1bass.
