1957 Gibson J-200

I am a rare coin and collectibles dealer in Florida. While I play and have several vintage guitars of my own, I am not really well versed on the current market.

I just viewed an estate and was shown a 1957 Gibson J-200 (SN# approx A-25900) in excellent condition. As close as I could tell, the ONLY detractors were that the bridge had been reglued and a few minor surface blemishes on the top... NO splits, NO belt buckle marks, straight neck.

I want to make a fair offer for this lovely instrument, but I don't want to be buried either. Can anyone help me with a value range? Thanks!

It's worth a tidy sum as you're probably aware. I'm in no position to give an accurate figure though.

Do you have the time to get photographs for an appraisal from Gruhn Guitars online? http://www.guitarpriceonline.com/

I'll also direct you to the Unofficial Martin Guitar Forum, which despite being mainly Martin, also has a very active vintage Gibson section.

The Price Guides suggest something around $10,000 USD. If you want something more specific it will probably require an appraisal. sb
