Howard Dumble DUAL SHOWMAN!
I, Carl G., own an original Howard Dumble DUAL SHOWMAN. And it sounds great on two LIKE NEW original Sunn Transducers from a '69 Marshall installed in ported cabinet.. I picked it up for cash payment at a band practice in South Bakersfield about 12 years ago. At the time, I didn't know that it was a Dumble Amp. Later I took it to Ed Sanner, Sanner Electronics, to have him go through it to install all new tubes, clean the pots, and check solder connections since it was obviously an old amp at that time. When I picked it up, Ed Sanner told me it was a Fender knock-off and that he was sure that it was a Howard Dumble because it used epoxy capacitors w/5% tolerance and the output transformer was not Fender issue. Ed also said that he had worked at Mosrite as well and that he knew Howard.
I would like to have Howard Dumble sign it on back chasis with indelable fine point pen because I do believe it's a Dumble Amp and it does have the deepest, richest, sound and most piercing mids and highs I've ever heard on any guitar amp. Does anyone have Howard Dumble's phone number so I can contact him? Carl G at [email protected]
Congrats on a nice catch, and be glad you have it. I suspect that, even with his 'phone number, your chances of a signature are next to zero. Read this old Guitarsite post from 2003; the guy struggled to just get the amp that he'd paid for:
