I’m signing up for guitar lessons. I’ve never played before. Should I start with an acoustic or does it really matter? Also i’m 38 would you say it’s to late to learn due to finger flexibility and agility? and my last question. I’ve seen these learn at home dvds advertised, are they really worth a damn?

Looks like you’ve dissappeared but just incase:

I don’t entirely agree…I tried time and time again with a nylon strung classical but the problem is they sound like turd.

I’m still very early in the whole learning guitar process but an Epi SG can make you sound like a god as soon as you’ve learnt 2 or 3 chords! ok, maybe not a god but it’s certainly more inspiring than all that plinky plunky stuff, IMO.

Yeah definitely agree w/ lee. I wish there was as much online when I was learning as there is now! You should join http://www.licklibrary.com for free and see how you go with it- and just keep practising!

i would start with a nylon strung guitar, a classical/spanish guitar.
the necks are wider so the string spacing is greater, easier to get your fingers around. Also the strings dont hurt your finger as much as steel strung guitars.
I would start with free online lessons, try a few clips on youtube too.
