Help. Anybody know anything about Schecter guitars?
Submitted by devilmonkeydad on Sun, 06/19/2005 - 02:04.
I just put an incredible SCHECTER Scorpian Elite on layaway. Got it for $279. was wondering if anyone knows how to date the serials. and am looking for any info anyone has on this guitar. can't seem to find any info on the Elite on the net. thanks!

All that I do know (and you probably knew this already) is that Schecter is a US manufacturer, but those cost a lot. The designs are (were?) also made in the Czech Republic. Cheaper, but not totally 'budget' orientated. Then, they allowed OLP ("Officially Licensed Product" - best known for Musicman copies) to make some.
I'm not sure if it's immediately obvious to tell a Cz from a US guitar. Judging by the price, I'd guess you have a Czech model. These are well-regarded from what I've read. Sorry, I don't know about the serial #s, but I hope some of this helps if you go Googling.
   All of the above is complete poop. I was confusing "Shecter" with "Spector". Apols to Stuart Spector (and, of course, the thread-originator), all that stuff about the Czech Republic refers to Spector Europe products.
Shecter do have a website (I checked - something I should've done last night) which is www.shecterguitar.com and I'm sure I saw the Elite listed amongst the many when clicking on "guitars". IIRC, their previously designed site made it quite clear that Shecter was a US company, but the instruments were made in Korea.
Of course, I could be confusing them with someone else  . Next post: "How 1BL spunked £5000 on a 1995 Leo Paul just like Jimi Plague's"
