Home Forums Guitar Discussion Guitar How to get a Van Halen tone from a Marshall AVT275?

I’ve scoured the net for and user presets on this map and can only find the suggested ones in the manual 🙁

Does anyone know how to make a really great rock tone that has enough treb for harmonics etc and enough warmth as to not go in the grunge/metallica direction?

I just basically want the Eddie Van Halen ‘Brown sound’ if possible 😀

I already own the evh wolfgang special, but also wasn’t sure if i should stay clear from the built in FX to the right of the amp? they all just sound bad to me, unless there is a subtle way of using just a small amount of something perhaps.

    Thanks in advance

Happy to help. I hope the link helps you get a good tone. If so, it would be great if you could post back here with an update so that anyone who does a similar search doesn’t have the trouble you’ve had to get the answer.

      Best of luck 🙂

Awsome, thanks a lot for the info mate, to be honest though, just getting the best sound out of this particular amp would help massively, i understand achieving his exact tone might be problematic.

      Thanks again

Can’t help you directly; a key part of EVH’s “brown sound” was to use a Variac to alter the potential difference of the mains voltage supplied but the Valvestate amps have a solid-state power section, so that’s unlikely to work.

You could try contacting a guitarist called Bash whose band “Flaming Monkey” plays VH amongst other stuff and he uses the same amp.

there is a “contact” button in the above link.
