Need help finding info on an old Squier II

Hi all! I am in search of some information on an older guitar.
My boyfriend has a Jap-made Squier II that no one seems to know anything about. We believe it was made in the early to mid-eighties; it is a deep purple/black color - and it's neck-through. Anyone know anything about this model? It came with a custom hardcase, but no other paperwork. We have looked everywhere and can find absolutely NO mention of a neck-through Squier. Our next step will be to contact Fender, but we know that is going to take some time to get any answers.
Any info would be much appreciated! :D
Any photos?
Not yet (working on that) - however after taking another look at it found that the boyfriend was slightly mistaken - it is not made in Japan, but Korea... everything else was accurate.
Most probably made by Young Chang, then. They were given the Squier job by Fender after Japan was deeemed too expensive for the 'budget' line. AFAIK, production only lasted from 1990-94. It's very confusing, though. Japanese output continued as "Squier Silver Series" and the Korean output of boggo Strats used ply bodies. Around the same time, though, all sorts of fashions came in; pointier strats, "superstrats" with one or two humbuckers, and thru-necks.
A pic really would help, but a serial # may just work, with any other titbits.
