Now, I'm all Questions...

It's not even 24 hours since i registered and here i am starting another topic....well what can i say...be patient with me...

1. I've read on sites and heard about many times, when regarding the multieffects pedals they mention patches...
I know more or less that a patch is the set of sound mods put together to create one specific type of sound. What i would like to know is of course more details and what do they mean when they say to "get" the patch for a song? is it a list of all the settings to recreate the sound?i'm confused

2.I've got an Epi Les Paul Black Beauty.Thing is i changed my strings from 9's to 10's and i'm afraid it might have some impact on the neck.Should i change back to 9's??

3.I noticed, about a week before changing the strings mentioned above, a slight sound cadence when playing a single note with distortion. Now i don't remember if the cadence was present before, the guitar is actually only 4 months old but it kinda worries me...what can i do by myself to check it?

1. some Multieffects units have the capability of having patches downloaded via a USB connection, so you connect it to your PC and access the website with the patches and download them to your Multieffects.

2. It will have a slight effect on the neck, the heavier strings will create more tension and thus pull the neck forward a little more, this will cause the action (string height from fretboard) to be raised a little more, it will not cause your neck to break, and it will not damage it. Strings can go a lot heavier than 10's, i use 10's myself, my friend uses 13's, accoustic guitars can go heavier.
The action can be lowered by adjusting the bridge saddle heights and tweeking the truss rod, although i wouldnt recomend this to a beginer like yourself, take it to a shop and have it done, it usally costs about $50.

3. cadence? what sound change, discribe it.

Well it's like the note waving instead of fading out steadily...
You're right not suggesting me to do it myself....three years ago i took my guitar to a shop...in pieces!!!! i was just messing around with the screws and suddenly the body got separated from the neck...never tried to touch those screws again...

About the patches i read once in a forum about a guy who was looking for patches for his gfx but it was a model with no usb or anything similar, i know because a friend of mine used to have the same model....so what did HE mean by finding patches?

Oh and btw thanks for the advice

the patches can be written down manualy too, they will tel you to turn on your chorus effect, set the intensity to 8 and the depth to 6, also turn on the reverb and have set to hall medium, and also set the distortion to drive 7 and level 8 etc etc, you get the idea, ps if you want that kind of info have a look at http://www.guitargeek.com/

no idea on the wavering note, never heard of that.
Lee.

Well maybe someone else knows both for the patches and the wavering note....oh the link you gave me...man this site has everything!!!still hasn't searched though, just had a glimpse...arg days have only 24 hours..they're not enough! I wish i didn't have to sleep....ever
