And it’s not just about being lightweight, because according to the company, the use of lighter materials and parts allow sound frequencies to travel more efficiently, resulting in guitar tones that are more resonant and open.

Breedlove is known for taking their guitar designs beyond conventional so coming up with ideas like designing a super light and responsive body is to be expected. To achieve the lowest weight possible without compromising structural stability, Breedlove designers developed a way to reduce the thickness of the top and finish via non-conventional means.

One of the most noteworthy feature of this guitar is its thin finish, which is measured at 5 mils for the top and 2 mils for the back and sides, described as the company as their thinnest to date.

Breedlove also researched on more efficient body designs by conducting extensive “sound profiling”, testing different body configurations for the thinnest possible shape without sacrificing stability. The result was a thinner top, a smaller sound hole, and a thicker back, all of which are used on the USA Concert Moon Light.

The guitar’s top is crafted from Alaska Sitka spruce that were salvaged from downed trees in the Tongass National Forest. Breedlove also revealed where they got the Honduran mahogany for the back and sides, they were selectively harvested in the Custosel Concession in the Mayan Biosphere of Guatemala. The 25.5″ scale neck is also carved from Honduran mahogany, and topped by a 20 fret ebony fingerboard with a standard nut width of 1.75″.

In keeping with the aim to keep resonance high and weight low, the guitar comes with stripped down cosmetics. Resulting in a Concert shape guitar that weighs in at just 3.5 pounds, which is 25% lighter than the Breedlove Premiere Concert Mahogany guitar, which feature the same tonewood configuration.

Breedlove concludes: “The night is big. Everything heard and seen under the light of the moon looms closer and larger—howling wolves, stretched silhouettes. Even stillness takes on a life of its own. To evoke the expansive, embracing sounds and silence of night, we crafted the most textured big sound in a Breedlove Concert acoustic guitar ever… in the lightest guitar body possible.
