Kim Breedlove Signature 25th Anniversary

Breedlove celebrates their 25th anniversary with a limited run release, the Kim Breedlove Signature, inspired by the first guitar they built.

Kim Breedlove Signature Concert

This special guitar will be limited to just 10 worldwide, and as expected will be featuring the best of what the company has to offer. Since this will be a very rare instrument, it is no surprise that it will also come with a premium price tag.

The idea of starting a guitar company that builds unique guitars started in the late '80s, and after honing their expertise and experience, Steve Henderson and Larry Breedlove decided to finally start Breedlove in 1990.

The duo crafted guitars that were lightweight and responsive, implemented unique designs and used non-conventional materials. Kim Breedlove soon joined in and was tasked to add intricate inlays, serving as the group's artisan. The early prototypes that resulted is still considered by the company as important standards for which to measure their current production models.

The company says, "All of our instruments are painstakingly designed in Bend, Oregon, utilizing exclusive design elements like contemporary body shapes, handcrafted necks, the Breedlove bridge truss system, exotic tonewoods and stunning inlays to deliver a look and sound that is completely unique to the Breedlove brand. Play one and you’ll instantly get it: From an entry level Discovery to a Kim Breedlove Signature Masterclass, the distinctively crafted sound of a Breedlove will bring your art to new heights."

Now that their celebrating their 20th Anniversary, the company is showcasing their accumulated experience and craftsmanship via four special commemorative models. The Kim Breedlove Signature Concert is not just a part of this special release, rather it is the top of the line model that will only be available for a privileged few.

The Kim Breedlove Signature 25th features a sunken redwood cedar top, a special type of wood that I'm sure would have not been easy to get. The top is paired with figured walnut back and sides, a combination that gives the guitar a very impressive earthy look and a smooth warm tone.

The neck is also crafted from walnut, and is topped by an ebony fingerboard with 20 frets. The nutwidth is 1.75", scale length is 25.5", lower bout is 15", body length is 20" the upper bout is 11.25"

As the name implies, all ten of the limited run concert guitars will feature commemorative inlays made by Kim Breedlove, crafted using black pearl, gold pearl, mother of pearl, abalone and silver. For plugging in, the guitar comes equipped with LR Baggs Anthem TRU-Mic electronics.

Kim Breedlove explains, "This design was created to represent an abbreviated take on the company history. Simply, from the top, the creative seed is planted and begins to sprout into a spiral of growth and directions (guitars, mandolins, electrics, ukuleles) and the challenges faced with that growth are gathered together, re-focused and re-branded leading to the company’s 25th year. At the bottom, the seed is re-planted creating a new beginning.

If you want to own one of the ten Kim Breedlove Signature Concert guitars, be ready to shell out quite a hefty amount, the MSRP currently stands at $13,332. Visit Breedlove Music for the complete specifications and other details.
