Peavey DW-3 Acoustic Electric Guitar

Peavey introduces a new line of affordable acoustic electric guitars, with the DW-3 as its flagship model.

Peavey DW-3

This guitar carries mid-level specs – solid spruce top and rosewood back and sides – at an entry-level price.

Peavey describes the DW series as “combining high-quality components and ultimate playability at an accessible price”. Looks like they have applied their experience in manufacturing affordable instruments and audio gear to acoustic guitar building. The DW-3 is set to challenge the other cheap acoustic-electrics in the market with its impressive specs.

The DW-3 has a traditional and plain looking dreadnought body, however it’s uniquely shaped rosewood bridge and laser etched rosette adornments give its appearance a boost. Although it doesn’t say on the specs, a closer look at the guitar shows that the body and neck are bound, which adds to the instrument’s overall appeal.

The guitar features a solid spruce top with rosewood back and sides, a wood combination found on acoustic guitars more than three times the price of the Peavey DW-3. The neck is made of mahogany and is topped by a 20 fret Rosewood fingerboard. It has a scale length of 25.5″ and a nut width of 1.625″, a combination that is commonly preferred to because it is not too wide and not too narrow.

Wrapping up the guitar’s features is its active preamp with built-in tuner. It features a built-in mic with blend control, which you can mix with the standard piezo sound. This type of pickup and mic combination is something that you usually have to pay big money for.

The Peavey DW-3 is already being sold online with a tag price of $299.99. You can visit Peavey for more information.
