The new 12-string guitar is currently on display at the Musikmesse trade show, in Frankfurt, Germany, which runs until March 16, 2014.
According to Taylor, 150e is their most affordable 12-string acoustic-electric guitar, so it may be a good excuse for budget conscious players to finally acquire a reliable 12-string workhorse.
The guitar's dreadnought body features a solid Sitka spruce top with laminated sapele back and sides. Taylor says "the dreadnought body's strong low-end response balances well with the crisp octave shimmer", producing a tone that’s lush and articulate, with lots of dynamic range."
The neck is also made of sapele, with a neck width of 1 7/8" and ebony fretboard. Nut and saddle are Tusq and 6mm dot inlays serve as guide for your fretting hand. The top is wrapped by a black binding, which matches the color of the pickguard and fretboard.
For plugging in, the guitar comes with Taylor's Expression System electronics. This preamp and undersaddle pickup combo is well regarded, so its use in this 12-string is quite a surprise.
Other features include die-cast chrome mini tuners, black plastic truss rod cover, three-ring rosette and a head overlay made out of Indian rosewood.
The 150e is scheduled for international release beginning in May at authorized dealers. You an check out the new Taylor 150e at Musikmesse, visit the Taylor Guitars stand in Hall 3.1 E80 & E83. For more information, visit their Website.
