According to the company, the guitar’s earthy brown satin finish is matched by its classic woody tone, producing sounds that are ideal for acoustic blues tunes.

While other manufacturers offer pre-war style guitars with war-provoking price tags, The Loar is known for providing affordable alternatives. The new LH-204 Brownstone expands the company’s small body acoustic guitar line, which now totals to nine distinct models.

It is said to be based on the popular LH-200 model, which was modeled after small-bodied flat top acoustic guitars from the 1930s. This particular size makes the LH-204 portable, easy to store and to carry around.

The LH-204 guitar has a classic pre-war body that features traditional wood combination, it has a solid Sitka spruce top with mahogany back and sides. The name Brownstone refers to the guitar’s brown satin finish and ivory bindings and vintage-style bound soundhole.

The neck is also made of mahogany, carved into a C profile shape. It is topped by a rosewood fingerboard with 19 medium frets, and a scale length of 25.4″. LH-204 has a 1-11/16″ bone nut and a low-key headstock design with a simple gold logo decal that spells out the company name. This straightforward headstock design is said to be a nod to the guitar’s vintage heritage.

The bridge of the guitar is made from rosewood, while the headstock is equipped with TonePros TPKR3-N tuners. The Loar says that “the tone and vibe of the LH-204 drip with the blues style that many consider to be the foundation of all guitar music since.”

The guitar was put on display at The Loar’s booth at the recently concluded 2014 Summer NAMM Show. Pricing information is not yet available but it should be within the same price range as the LH-200. You can head over to The Loar for more information.

Update: The new Loar LO-215 is now available.
