The company’s beginnings is traced to have started over 5 decades ago in Hartley Peavey’s basement, and it was founded in 1965 after Hartley have had enough experience building amplifiers. From it’s humble beginnings, the company has now grown to become one of the largest music gear production company in the world.

In honor of this landmark golden anniversary, the company is releasing commemorative versions of two of their most popular amplifiers, and limiting their release to just within the year 2015.

Peavey 50th Anniversary 6505+

As expected the popular 6505+ amplifier head gets the commemorative treatment. This amp is the successor to the Van Halen signature Peavey 5150 and carries with it the familiar high-gain tone that helped shape the way we hear rock guitars today.

The 50th anniversary 6505 Plus head carries over the same specifications as the regular version, the only difference being on the aesthetic side. To celebrate the golden anniversary of the company, they dressed up the amp head in a special gold chassis fitting and added a commemorative 50th Anniversary emblem.

Notable features of the Peavey 50th Anniversary 6505+ Amp Head:

  • 120 Watts
  • Preamp: 6 – 12AX7s
  • Power amp: 4 – 6L6s
  • Footswitchable lead/rhythm channels
  • Effects loop
  • 3-band EQ
  • Resonance and presence controls
  • 4, 8, or 16 Ohms

Peavey 50th Anniversary Classic 30 112 Combo

From the modern sounding 6505+, the other commemorative amp is its polar opposite, the vintage sounding Classic 30 112 combo. The Classic series is close to Hartley Peavey’s heart, not just because it was the first Peavey amplifier, but also because it was inspired by the special moment in 1957 when he watched a Bo Diddley concert in Mississippi.

The 50th anniversary Classic 30 112 combo offers the same specifications as the Classic tweed model, carrying with it the same analog tube circuit that blues, country and classic rock players are familiar with. What the special commemorative version brings is a different look, instead of the usual tweed, it sports a gold chassis fitting with black tolex and the special golden anniversary emblem.

Notable features of the Peavey 50th Anniversary Classic 30 112 Combo:

  • Genuine Spring Reverb with level control
  • Pre- and post-gain controls on lead channel
  • External speaker capability
  • Footswitches optional
  • 30 Watts (rms) into 16 or 8 Ohms
