This new compact bass amp head is designed with power and portability in mind, having as much as 1000 watts of power at your disposal while weighing in at just 10 lbs! It has now started shipping to the company’s various dealers and distributors worldwide, and should be available for purchase.

In the world of amplifiers, portability is usually associated with compromise in power, quality and more notoriously, lack of tone shaping controls. Thankfully, Peavey thought otherwise and designed the Headliner 1000 to be as powerful as possible without compromising quality and sound control features. They also successfully miniaturized the circuit enough to fit everything in a compact rack-mountable profile that’s super light.

Speaking of controls, the Peavey Headliner 1000’s most prominent feature is its seven-band graphic EQ. It is said to be spaced at optimized frequencies tuned specifically for bass guitars, with each of the 7 sliders giving you 15dB of boost or cut, for in-depth control over your sound. From subtle tweaks to smoothen rough edges and add low-end thump, to modern scooped settings, this 7-band EQ gives you extensive control over your sound.

In addition, there’s also the low and high shelving-type tone controls for further tone shaping. In case you want to use a different EQ, there is an option to bypass the EQ altogether.

Peavey equipped this amp with a built-in optical compressor with level control and bypass so you can apply as much compression as you want. It works in conjunction with EQ to reproduce classic bass tones as heard on popular songs. There’s also a crunch feature that only distorts the high frequencies, giving the amp a vintage style tube like behavior that many bassists will appreciate. Both the compressor and crunch features are footswitch selectable, for realtime control over your sound.

Another nifty feature of the Headliner 1000 is its built-in XLR direct interface for connecting directly to a PA system or recording device. It also has an effects loop for more versatile control over your signal chain. An active/passive pickup switch is provided for compatibility with the various types of basses available today.

If you’re not careful, 1000 Watts can be too much for your speaker, thankfully Peavey equipped the amp with their DDT speaker protection circuitry that detects clipping before it happens and limits your signal automatically to avoid damaging your speaker.

Finally, the Peavey Headliner 1000 is packed inside a tank tough rack mountable enclosure that takes up around 1 1/2 rack space. It is currently retailing online for just under $450, more information is available at Peavey.
