Peavey releases the MiniMega, a lightweight and portable 1000 Watt bass amplifier head that weighs in at just 9 lbs.
This new compact amp head packs in a lot of power for something so small and light, designed to deliver genuine Peavey bass tone without the bulk. The company claims that the technology they used to miniaturize this amp is not available in other amps.
For something so light, this amp head is not only about power, because it comes packed with a wide variety of amp features. And since it’s from Peavey, price is kept to a reasonable range, making this powerful amp not just portable, but also affordable.

The front panel of the amp head is packed with 8 knobs, multiple switches and interface lighting, which is quite impressive for its size. It has a gain knob with crunch button, 4-band EQ with punch and bright switches for tone shaping, and there’s even semi-parametric control with narrow Q adjustments for even finer shaping of the sound. Other controls include a defeat switch for the optical compressor and it comes with a master volume with mute switch. Interestingly, you can personalize the control surface lighting color, to make adjustments easier to recognize and add some eye candy to the amp.
Peavey’s own Kosmos enhancement technology is implemented in this portable amp head, which improves low frequency performance. There are also psychoacoustic sub controls included for further enhancing the bass without damaging the speakers.
The amp is described to have 1000 watts of continuous power, driving it into 4 ohms that can be connected to speakers via two twist-lock combo 1/4″ outputs or the 1/8″ headphone output for practice. The back panel is lined up with extensive connectivity options that include effects loop, MIDI footswitch input, DI output with XLR with DI pre-post switch and there’s even a tuner output. Other features include built-in DDT Limiter, ground lift and Pad controls.
