This new upgraded version of the two-channel Rocktron Velocity 100 features expanded tone shaping controls, allowing for improved lows and highs, designed to complement guitar preamps.

The Rocktron Velocity power amplifier for guitar gained popularity because of its portability, packed inside a single regular size rack that easily integrates into rack cabinets and other rack setups. The original version of the Velocity 100 was very straightforward, having just two knobs for adjusting the level of the channels. Now the company is offering a more sonically flexible version, the Velocity 100 LTD, which has now replaced the original in their line up.

Two new controls are added for each channel, increasing the total number of knobs to six. The first knob is called “Resonance” and it lets you boost the lower frequency range, while the second knob is for adjusting “Presence”, which lets you trim or better emphasize the higher frequencies.

The official description says, “The Velocity 100 LTD was designed to provide great flexibility and high reliability. With its unique Resonance and Presence controls, the V100 LTD offers expanded tone controls that greatly complement any guitar preamp. The Resonance control particularly beefs up the lower range, giving the Velocity 100 LTD extra performance at the low end of the sonic spectrum. The Presence control opens up the treble and higher end, offering more ‘voice’ for solo playing.

Another important feature of the new Velocity 100 LTD is its thermal protection circuitry. It is designed to ensure that this rack power amp is protected from over voltage, under voltage or even short circuits to the power supply. This results in worry-free and reliable performance especially for guitarists that are playing in different places.

Instead of having to open up the chassis when replacing a fuse, Rocktron moved the location of the fuse into an easily accessible location, just below the power module connector. All you have to do is use a screw to slide the fuse cover open and you can then proceed to do the replacement. It even comes with a special compartment for storing a spare fuse, so you won’t have to go digging into your tool box when doing quick replacements.

This single-rackspace amplifier can be configured in two ways, you can use it to provide 55 watts of power per channel into a 4 ohm load, or 40 watts per channel into an 8 ohm load. It has a front panel power switch along with the original volume level control knobs for each channel.

The Rocktron Velocity 100 LTD is currently retailing for $349. Head over to Rocktron for more information.
