Ampeg reintroduces the V-4B Tube Bass Head, now with improved rig integration options and portability. Related Feature:Phil Jones BriefCase Bass Amp Along with this 100W re-issue bass amp, Ampeg also unveils two new bass cabinets – the SVT-212AV and SVT-112AV. While looking for new product ideas, Ampeg and their research team realized that instead of a new product, their fans and customers actually want to bring back an old favorite from 1971. And so they worked on bringing back the V-4B with all its original specifications, while introducing some modern improvements. The amp brings back the look of the original while infusing a bit of modern day elegance on the front panel. The amp’s unique chassis suspension, fit and finish are based on the original, albeit with some very minor differences so you can distinguish the new version from a vintage one. Cosmetics are based on Ampeg’s “Black Line”, while vintage rocker switches and classic looking knobs rounds off the amp’s retro vibe. To give the new V-4B 100W bass head its sound, Ampeg equipped it with eight vacuum tubes. Two 12AX7 tubes drive the preamp, while the power amp section has four 6L6GC tubes. The driver section also houses

Fender Modern Player Coronado

Fender expands their affordable Modern Player series with another classic remake – the Coronado. Related Feature:Fender Modern Player Starcaster The guitar is inspired by vintage Coronados first produced in the mid ’60s, and was Fender’s first attempt at building hollow-body electrics. If you are wondering why it looks more like a “Rick”, that’s because the original guitar was co-designed by their rival’s former employee. Although it didn’t fare as well as their popular solid body electrics, Fender is now giving this design a second chance, aiming to provide a unique instrument for players while still retaining Fender’s feel and look. The new Modern Player Coronado follows the original closely, but introduces modern adjustments and improvements to make it a viable tool for working musicians. A notable difference between the 2013 model and the original is the use of a center block, effectively turning the guitar into a semi-hollow electric to reduce feedback. The new model also features more cost effective Fidelitron pickups. The guitar starts out with a laminated maple semi-hollow body. It is carved into double cutaway shape that features a distinctly elongated f hole, and features an alder center block. You can pick between a variety of finish

Best Bass Guitar Pedals

Add flavor and color to your bass tones with some of the best bass guitar pedals and multi-effects. As a bassist you play an important role, you are in charge of keeping the rhythm and groove flowing. This usually means that you can’t go crazy with effects. This limitation however will not stop you from buying effects that can be used whenever a song calls for it. After all, big name bass players like Victor Wooten steps on a modest Boss GT-6B, Pino Palladino used a Boss Octave pedal, and even Jaco Pastorius employed a rackmount MXR digital delay unit to color his tones. Bass guitar effect pedals are essentially the same as what guitar players use, it’s just that they are tweaked to work best with lower register sounds. There are bass players that don’t use effects, but at the very least they will be using a bass guitar pedal as their direct box or for tuning. In addition to the pedals below, some bass players also use a channel strip to compress and EQ the signal before sending it to an amp – particularly those who play slap bass or who want a tube preamp. Best Metal Guitar Roundup

Here are some of the best metal guitars across a range of shapes, specs and price brackets. Heavy Metal is usually fast paced and requires a very low neck and string action that can keep up with your fingers. It also requires loud and powerful tones which will drive your guitar and pickups to its limits. To achieve this you will probably be looking for the stereotypical metal guitar setup: sharp edged body designs, hot passive or active pickups, thin necks and a floating tremolo bridge. This is OK as long you don’t neglect considering the guitars’ ability to accept punishment. What good is a nice looking guitar and great metal tone if it can’t stay in tune or if it can’t survive aggressive playing. As you go through our list of the best guitars for metal, keep in mind that these models have both expensive and affordable versions which you can choose from. Also note that you will probably have to invest in the guitar set-up for better playability and stability, as well as pickup upgrades depending on your preference. B.C. Rich Metal Master Warlock B.C.
