All three instruments are designed and quality checked at Breedlove’s guitar facility in Bend, Oregon, USA.

Breedlove Studio Bass

This is the top-of-the-line acoustic bass guitar model. As the name implies, it is designed for use in both home and professional studio recording. It has a jumbo body with solid sitka spruce top and laminated sapele for the back and sides. This 4-string acoustic bass utilizes Breedlove’s unique bass bracing that results in highly resonant and full sounding tones, according to the company. Other features include the brand’s Bridge Truss system that relieves stress on the guitar’s top.

Breedlove Solo Bass

This bass follows the brand’s Solo series guitar design, carrying its distinctive side soundhole feature that makes the instrument more audible to the player. This extra soundhole makes the instrument easier to hear during practice, solo performance or when doing ensemble work. The Solo Bass has a solid cedar top, which gives it a distinct tone compared to the Studio Bass model. It has the same laminated sapele back and sides, neck profile and Bridge Truss system.

Breedlove Pursuit Bass

The Pursuit bass is the most affordable of the three, and features a smaller Concert body. Surprisingly, this instrument also has a solid sitka spruce top with laminate sapele. It follows the same build as the Studio, but it trades in some of its acoustic loudness and depth for improved clarity. The neck is also designed to be the easiest to use among the three, with a shorter scale length of 32″, compared to the regular 34″ used on the other two models. Finally, the same Bridge Truss system is used.

For plugging in, all three bases are equipped with Fishman ISYS+ electronics, and feature built-in USB ports, so laying down tracks on your laptop or computer is easy and convenient.

Bassist Jeff Pilson was quoted saying, “I’ve been looking for years to find an acoustic bass that sounds great – and by that I mean with controllable eq so it’s full but not too boomy – but also feels and plays great. My Breedlove has it all and I couldn’t be happier!”

The Studio Bass has an MSRP of $1,199, the Solo Bass has an MSRP of $1,065 and the Pursuit Bass is listed at $799. You can head over to Breedlove Music for other details.
