In appreciation of his support for US Military veterans, Cort gave Gary Sinise, a.k.a. “Lt. Dan”, a Cort Artisan A4 bass.
Television star and Big screen actor Gary Sinise is the bass player for the band aptly named “Lt. Dan”. Forest Gump’s best friend is a good man and a musician!
Cort has recently presented Gary a Cort Artisan A4 bass guitar to acknowledge his support for veterans with his charitable organization – the Gary Sinise Foundation. It happened in Chicago earlier this year at a fund raiser concert where Gary and his Lt. Dan band performed. This event benefited the United States Veterans Arts Program (USVAP) which is an organization that strives to provide artistic tools to wounded service members of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars as well as Veterans Medical Service Organizations. Cort also gave away a Cort electric guitar, signed by Gary to a guitar playing veteran.
The Cort Artisan A4 is a premium bass guitar that features neck-thru construction which translates to better tone and string vibration transfer. The body of this bass guitar is made of mahogany with a solid figured maple top which is directly connected to a maple/wenge neck. It has a 34″ scale and has 24 large frets. It is equipped with Hipshot Tuners and Bridge for intonation and has Bartolini MK1-4/F & MK-1-4/R pickups installed.
While studying under the legendary bassist, Jeff Berlin, Sinise had the opportunity to play instruments from Berlin’s collection and the Cort bass quickly became his personal favorite. Soon enough, he started using that bass at performances.
Gary who played as Lt. Dan in the iconic movie Forest Gump, and who is currently portraying Detective Mac Taylor in CSI:NY is obviously a busy man, but he still finds time to squeeze bass guitar playing and helping out United States military veterans into his busy schedule. Gary and the Lt. Dan band plays 30 to 40 shows a year around the world in support of U.S. troops.
