Squier introduces trio of new artist model basses, I have a rant

Squier has introduced a trio of new Artist Model signature basses bearing the famous names and designs of Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz, Anthrax's Frank Bello and Green Day's Mike Dirnt.

Great, but I'm gonna have to stop there and write about another issue.

I hate the marketing department at Squier.

Have a read of this stuff:

“The Pete Wentz Precision Bass guitar is a darkly beautiful instrument that’ll rock your face off. It’s all sleek and black and stuff, and it’s loaded with cool features—like Pete’s own red bat/heart design on the body, plus a black bat/diamond fingerboard inlay at the 12th fret, Wentz’s signature on the back of the headstock, an eye-catching three-ply red shell pickguard and a thunderous Duncan Designed PB-105 split single-coil pickup.”

How can anyone take their guitars seriously when the spurt out crap like that on their website. Not long ago we (the GuitarSite forum) had a discussion about the quality of Squier products, and many of us agreed they aren't all that bad for the price. It's the companies image and the way they choose to promote themselevs that's the problem.

Now, I'm sure the Guys at Fender/Squier know what their doing and their bank accounts are proof of it, but I know I'm not alone when product descriptions like the one above drive you insane.

Sorry, had to get that rant out.

GLW: I’ve now calmed down 🙂 It was a hectic day yesterday and I just couldn’t help it. Squier was my release. Thanks for pointing out the spelling error. Lucky I got half of them correct, otherwise I would have looked a bigger fool.

Randall: My gripe was with Squier’s marketing department, definitely not the guys building the guitars.
