The Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus is designed for metal and rock players, retaining the traditional shape while gaining modifications that redefine its sound and playability.
There are currently two guitars in this series, the Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX with EMG pickups and the GX outfit with Gibson Humbuckers that feature coil tapping.
The Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus feature a Quilt Maple top, mahogany body and neck and retains the classic Les Paul shape and non-weight relief body for better tone and sustain. Both the Les Paul Custom Plus GX and EX can attribute their improved playability to their modified neck design. Both guitars have 14″ radius mahogany necks with 24.75″ scale, both have satin finish and sports a SpeedTaper D-Profile. Another notable modification is that the neck now meets the body at the 18th fret for better access to all 24 frets. Another new feature of the Prophecy Les Paul Custom is that it has individual volume and tone knobs for each pickups.
Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX comes loaded with EMG85 in the neck and an EMG81 in the bridge which are popular pickups for metal players. The EX guitars are available in midnight ebony or midnight sapphire finish, and are stylishly embellished with black hardware.
The GX outfit on the other hand is equipped with a Gibson USA 490R humbucker in the neck position and a Gibson USA 498T in the bridge position, these pickups is based on the traditional PAF tone but with more juice. The GX also comes with coil tapping capabilities via a push/pull control at each volume knobs, giving you more tonal palette. You can get a GX in Black Cherry or Heritage Cherry finish with gold hardware

I saw an online retailer selling the Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus EX for $799 while the Epiphone Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX is being sold for around $735.
