Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar

Fender unveils the new Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar Guitar, bearing unique design modifications as approved by the master of melody, guitar layering and texture.

Fender Johnny Marr Signature Jaguar

The Fender Jaguar Guitar has been a big part of Johnny Marr’s playing and sound so it is only expected that a signature model is developed for him.

This influential guitar player, well known for his acclaimed guitar work with Morrissey and the Smiths, extensively tested this new Jaguar on the road. His goal was to keep the feel and aesthetics of the original Fender Jaguar, while turning the guitar into a flexible, all encompassing instrument.

By looking at the guitar, you will immediately notice the short scale custom shaped maple neck. This is based on Marr’s 1965 Jaguar, equipped with vintage-style truss rod and lacquer finish bearing a signature stamp of approval on the headstock. Johnny wanted to change the configuration of the switches a bit so he moved the high pass filter switch on the old tone switch and turned the second switch to further brighten your tone when you are in position 4. The four position blade style pickup switch is retained at the lower chrome plate, bearing Marr’s specific switching style: (bridge, bridge and neck in parallel, neck, bridge and neck in series).

After going through tons of pickups and wiring experiments, the Johnny Marr Jaguar Signature was equipped with custom-wound Bare Knuckle Johnny Marr single-coil pickups. They are copies of vintage ’62 pickups that have both polarities going in the same direction. The signature Johnny Marr guitar also has improved Jaguar bridge with Mustang saddles, with nylon bridge post inserts for improved stability. Finally the guitar has a vintage-style floating tremolo tailpiece which rounds up the overall look and style.
