G&L adds three new models to the Tribute Series family, ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow Guitar series.
These guitars maintain their original design – a modified version of Leo fender’s Telecaster, while showcasing upgraded looks.
The G&L Bluesboy Semi-hollow is basically the uptown cousin of the G&L Bluesboy, combining traditional Telecaster shape and semi-hollow body design. This guitar features a swamp ash body with G&L’s twin voice chambers. A great looking f-hole graces the top to let you know that this is not your typical solid-body electric.
The neck is made of hard maple and with each design having either a maple or rosewood fingerboard. It is connected to the body via traditional bolt-on construction and features a 25 1/2″ scale, a neck width of 1 5/8″ at the nut, and a neck radius of 9″. You can play your blues licks on its 22 medium jumbo nickel frets with a player friendly medium C profile.
The pickup selection used on these guitars is quite interesting, sporting an unusual pairing of a humbucker neck and a single coil bridge. The neck features a G&L alnico humbucker designed by Paul Gagon while a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickup designed by Leo Fender is equipped on the bridge.
The single-coil MFD bridge pickup is designed to deliver crisp attack with complex harmonics. It is framed by the guitar’s classic boxed-steel bridge with individual brass saddles that offer modern levels of intonation refinement. The neck humbucker makes full use of the semi-hollow body with its warm tonality. Since the semi-hollow body softens the midrange frequencies, it accentuates the lows and highs. Together with the pickups, volume and tone knobs – these guitars become versatile instruments.
The G&L ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow will come in three new models: The G&L Blonde with tortoise pickguard, tinted gloss neck and rosewood fingerboard, the G&L Clear Orange that comes with a 3-ply creme pickguard, tinted gloss neck and a maple fingerboard, and finally the G&L Old-School Tobacco Sunburst that comes with a 3-ply BWB pickguard, tinted gloss neck and a rosewood fingerboard.
The Tribute Series ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-hollow guitars look as luxurious as the other G&L guitars, but you will be surprised that it comes at a relatively affordable price point. It is expected to retail for around $787.
