Godin 5th Avenue Uptown GT

The 5th Avenue Uptown GT is Godin’s good looking and genre crossing archtop guitar with a Bigsby tremolo.

Since the introduction of this guitar last July, it has managed to capture the interest of many musicians and is recently nominated for “Best Electric Guitar” at the 26th Annual Music and Sound Awards.

Mario Biferali, Godin’s Sales & Marketing Manager, is quoted saying: “We are very proud of the Godin 5th Avenue Uptown. We worked extremely hard on this model to make sure it was exactly what we envisioned it to be in regards to the look, feel and sound. We wanted the Godin 5th Avenue Uptown to give players a great “feeling” before they even picked it up, and, get blown away once they did! Thanks for the great news, we’re honoured to be nominated,”.

Although it is easy to visually classify this guitar as a Jazz box, this guitar is designed to meet the demands of other music genres, including Rock, Blues, Rockabilly and even Shred (if you want to go that far).

The core of this guitar is Canadian Wild Cherry. It has a molded arched top and back, having either a Canadian Wild Cherry archtop or a flame maple archtop. The sides are also made of Canadian Wild Cherry. On the GT (Gloss Tops) version, the wood is paired with aesthetic semi-gloss back & sides. As expected the 5th Avenue Uptown GT has classic f-holes to round up its charms. Just by looking at the image, we can easily say that this guitar is a looker, and much more so when the guitar is actually handled or tested.

Your fretting hand will enjoy the silver leaf maple neck with ebony fingerboard, with string intonation and action assured by the high-ratio tuners and the Roller saddle Adjustable bridge with Tusq base by Graphtech. The 5th Avenue Uptown GT features a pair of Custom Godin Humbucker pickups controlled by a basic 3 way toggle switch with master volume and master tone knobs. The pickups are said to provide classic warm tones which with the addition of the Bigsby tremolo can help you create some of your sweetest and warmest guitar sounds.

Godin’s 5th Avenue Uptown GT is available in Trans Red Flame GT and Solid Black GT finish. Other specs include: 16″ fingerboard radius, 24.84″ scale and a 1.72″ nut width.

The 26th Annual Music & Sound Awards event is scheduled on January 2012 at the Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, CA.

I saw a 5th Avenue Uptown with Trans Red finish currently being sold for an “uptown” price of $1299.99.
