The idea behind this guitar is to combine the cosmetic appeal of metal (actual metal, not musical style) with the feel and tonal properties of wood, resulting in an instrument that looks truly unique, while retaining the feel and weight of traditional wood.

The Paisley Dellatera is designed for guitarists who want the look of metal body guitars, but prefer the playability, tone and feel of conventional wood instruments. To achieve this guitar’s metallic look, Zelinsky utilized a unique metalizing process that allowed him to wrap the wooden body of the guitar with an Antiqued Nickel finish that looks very similar to metal.

Dean Zelinsky stated, “I have been working on perfecting this look for several months. Engraved metal guitars currently on the market have a sexy appeal but are extremely expensive. Additionally, they have other less desirable qualities associated with the metal bodies. We have 100% achieved that look ‘in wood’ without the lofty price tag. In a test at a local music store, players looking at my Dellatera side-by-side a metal body guitar were not able to tell the difference.”

The guitar’s body is crafted from alder, following familiar Tele style single-cutaway shape. What separates this instrument is its customized engraved paisley finish that is made to look like old nickel. Since it is a custom guitar, you get to choose from a variety of options to further personalize the instrument.

The neck is crafted from rock hard Canadian maple, with a 9.5″ – 12″ compound radius fingerboard that can either be made from maple or rosewood. It has a total of 22 frets and has a traditional scale length of 25.5″ and nut width of 1-11/16″. While the bolt-on joint maybe all too familiar, the company utilized their patented Z-Glide Reduced Friction Neck design to make it easier to move through the frets. This is achieved via the neck’s laser textured finish, which removes 70% of the neck surface and puts a little air between your fretting hand and the neck. This results in reduced sticky and tacky feel, when compared to a conventional wooden neck.

Giving this guitar its tone are two Zelinsky pickups, the Broad-Tone neck single-coil and Hi-Tail single-coil bridge pickup, both of which are wired to a 3-way pickup selector, a master volume and a tone control knob. You can change the pickup with the Zelinsky SideKick pickup, which lets you switch between singlecoil to humbucker while retaining volume consistency. Other default features of the Paisley Dellatera include 20:1 locking tuners, graphite nut and string retainer.

The price for the new Dean Zelinsky Paisley Dellatera starts at $1299. For more information and to further customize your very own Engraved Paisley Dellatera, head over to Dean Zelinsky.
