Epiphone Slash Rosso Corsa Les Paul Standard

Epiphone is again banking on the popularity of Slash with the new Rosso Corsa Les Paul Standard.

First released as part of the more expensive Gibson line, this limited edition Epiphone version of the Rosso Corsa costs 50% less, and comes equipped with Slash designed Seymour Duncan pickups.

If you think you’ve collected all the Slash signature guitars out there, you’ll have to think again because the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer gets another signature model, this time under the more affordable Epiphone brand.

Like his other signature guitars, the Ltd. Ed. Slash “Rosso Corsa” Les Paul Standard Outfit is co-designed by Slash himself, basing it on his own custom Rosso Corsa Les Paul, which currently works as his main axe in the studio and on stage with his band the Conspirators.

The name Rosso Corsa translates to “Racing Red”, describing the guitar’s special transparent red finish, which allows the stripes of the guitar’s flame maple veneer top to pass through. This finish is only found with on the Epiphone and Gibson Rossa Corsa Les Pauls.

Underneath the hand-tinted finish and flame maple veneer is a carved hard Maple cap. The back is made of mahogany and features Gibson’s weight relief comfort. To ensure that nothing is blocking the guitar’s finish, the pickguard is detached by default, but is included in the hardcase. The top and neck have single layer Ivory colored binding just like Slash’s original.

Like the Gibson version, the Epiphone Rosso Corsa is equipped with Slash’s favorite Seymour Duncan Slash Alnico II Pro Humbucker pickups. The bridge has a “Reverse Zebra”, while the neck has the “Zebra” in the neck, and both of them come with without a logo.

Talking about the pickups, the company says, “The “Slash” Seymour Duncan pickups offer a twist on the famous (and for most unattainable) original “PAF” hand wound humbuckers from the late 50s. Slash helped design the pickups with Seymour Duncan himself based on his favorite vintage Les Pauls. Seymour Duncan was one of the first custom pickup designers and has repaired, rewound, and studied hundreds of vintage Les Pauls from the late 50s including Slash’s entire vintage collection.”

Other features of the guitar include Slash-approved D-shaped neck profile, 12″ fingerboard radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, Sprague “Orange Drop” Capacitors, Locktone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and Epiphone deluxe tulip tuners. In addition, the Slash “Rosso Corsa” comes with a custom hard carrying case and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Epiphone President Jim Rosenberg says, “Epiphone has had a long and terrific friendship with Slash. The Epiphone Slash “Rosso Corsa” Les Paul is just like the man himself—one of a kind. Slash is committed to the idea that a great guitar can be affordable to everyone and his new Rosso Corsa Les Paul is a fantastic instrument.

The new Epiphone Slash Rosso Corsa Les Paul Standard is scheduled for release in late-October or early-November of this year, with an MSRP of $1665. Head over to Epiphone for further details.
