This guitar is part of the five new models that Fender recently added to their 2012 limited collection series.

The 1969 Relic Stratocaster is based on the late ’60s era Stratocasters. This guitar is born to accommodate all of Fender Custom Shop’s most requested features.

The guitar features a body that is made of hand selected alder wood. The body is wrapped in a specially aged Olympic White Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish. A ’69 era style U shape maple neck is bolted into the alder body. The maple neck comes with a 25.5″ scale length and a 9.5″ fingerboard radius that is meant for string bending. The round-lam maple fingerboard is equipped with 21 medium jumbo frets and measures 1.650″ at the nut. The most eye-catching feature of this guitar is its great looking reverse headstock.

To capture its sound, the Limited Edition 1969 Relic Stratocaster relies on a trio of Custom ’69-style single-coil pickups. These pickups are hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra. You can select your preferred pickup via its five-way pickup selector. The guitar also comes with a master volume knob, a tone knob that controls the bridge and middle pickup, and another tone knob.

To wrap up its features, this limited edition instrument comes with a Vintage Style Synchronized Tremolo and a 3-Ply White/Black/White pickguard.

Fender also introduced three more limited edition guitar models. One of them is the Limited Edition 1963 Heavy Relic Stratocaster, which as its name implies, features a heavily scratched, rather “aged”, body. The guitar features Texas Special single coil pickups for the neck and middle positions while a Duncan JB Model SH-4 humbucker beefs up the bridge position. Another new limited edition model is the Limited Edition 1959 Heavy Relic Telecaster, this guitar comes with a Twisted Tele neck pickup and a Nocaster bridge pickup. Fender Custom Shop also introduced a pair of Relic La Cabronita “Boracha” guitar and bass models. The Jazzmaster guitar is equipped with dual TV Jones Power’Tron pickups while the bass model comes with TV Jones Thunder’Blade pickup. All of these models come with a special case, a limited edition neck plate and a Fender Custom Shop decal.
