Fender Limited Edition Rosewood Neck Telecaster

Fender unveils another limited edition American Standard Telecaster, this time featuring a solid rosewood neck.

Fender Limited Edition Rosewood Neck Telecaster

This presents guitarists with a truly unique Telecaster, inspired by the sought after Rosewood Telecaster, albeit limiting the rosewood to just the neck to keep the price tag accessible.

Much like the Les Paul for Gibson, Fender is not one to shy away from designing variations of the popular Telecaster design. The latest to come from this line is a limited run version with a 1-piece rosewood neck, and only 100 of this version will be produced.

The main selling point for this limited run version is its rosewood modern “C” shape neck, which according to the press release subtly changes the tone of the Tele when compared to a regular maple neck version. Ofcourse this tone change is subject to debate and interpretation, but the feel and look of the neck will definitely different. The headstock also has the rosewood appearance, but it’s not clear if it’s just a veneer, or it’s also crafted from rosewood like the neck.

The rosewood fingerboard has a standard scale length of 25.5″, a fingerboard radius of 9.5″ and a nut width of 1.687″. It has a total of 22 medium jumbo frets, and has traditional dot inlays as fret markers.

Other than the neck, the guitar follows the typical Custom Shop build, having a solid ash body carved into the popular single cutaway Tele shape. In keeping with the sought after Rosewood Telecaster, Fender wrapped the body in urethane “walnut stain” finish, which gives the guitar an all-rosewood look that matches the neck.

Giving this guitar its voice are Fender Custom Shop created pickups, a Twisted Single Coil Tele on the neck position and a Broadcaster pickup on the bridge position. They are wired to a 3-way pickup selector with control knobs for adjusting the volume and tone. This particular pickup configuration is a favorite among Telecaster users.

For the hardware, this limited edition Tele comes with a five-screw mounted brass bridge plate, 6-saddle American Standard Telecaster bridge with improved bent steel saddles and elongated string slot, and it has a set of deluxe staggered tuners.

The new Fender Limited Edition American Standard Telecaster with Rosewood Neck is currently retailing online for $1499.99. You should be able to find it here.
