Gibson Gary Moore Les Paul Standard

Gibson introduces the Gary Moore Les Paul Standard, a remake of his favorite ’59 Lemonburst Les Paul.

Gary Moore Les Paul Standard

This new guitar is a tribute to Gary Moore’s influence as a guitarist especially in the blues-rock arena.

Gary’s axe of choice is a ’59 burst that was originally owned by Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green, another accomplished guitar player. This guitar is now owned by a collector and is used as the basis for the new Gary Moore Les Paul Standard.

This new guitar follows conventional Les Paul design, only it uses premium tone woods that will work well with a nitrocellulose lemonburst finish. The body is made of mahogany and features a top carved from figured maple. It has Gibson’s modern weight-relief system that hollows out some parts of the guitar to give the body a lighter and more balanced weight. To highlight its lemonburst finish and wood quality, the guitar comes with no binding or pickguard.

The neck on this model is very much traditional. It is made from quarter-sawn mahogany, featuring a round ’50s profile and topped with an unbound Granadillo fingerboard. The entire fretboard has 22 medium-jumbo frets and comes with traditional trapezoid inlays.

Gibson equipped this guitar with their latest humbucking pickup – BurstBucker Pro. These Alnico V magnet pickups are wound with 42 AWG wire, designed to please the high-gain blues-rockers of our time. The bridge pickup has extra turns for a hotter lead sound, while the neck pickup is mounted in reverse following the modification done to Gary Moore’s ’59 LP. The two pickups provide traditional PAF tones and provide some level of tonal versatility to appease more players.

The guitar is equipped with ta 3-way pickup selector along with independent volume and tone knobs. Orange Drop tone capacitors are used along with mismatched gold top hat knobs for the bridge and amber hat knobs for the neck pickup. Rounding off its features is a TonePros Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece. The headstock come with TonePros Kluson green-key tuners.

The Gibson Gary Moore Les Paul Standard has an MSRP of $3,582. For the complete specifications and other information, you can head over to Gibson.
