This unique instrument feature unconventional design, with cylindrical and ergonomic features manufactured from 6AL-4V aircraft grade Titanium.

Here at Guitarsite, we love innovative guitar designs that go beyond the norm, the Gittler Guitar is certainly among these rare standouts.

Only 60 original Gittler guitars were produced back in the ’80s, and now this unique modern guitar is back in production – ideal for guitarists that are looking for unique instruments that are fully functional.

The Gittler Guitar is invented by Allan Gittler, he aimed to banish all traditional notions of guitar building and create great sounding guitars using a completely new approach. He did this by removing parts of the guitar that are unnecessary and redundant. He literally stripped down the guitar into its essential elements and improved the design of these important parts. The result is a super tough guitar with a unique and minimalist design. Allan Gittler responded to the question – “When were you satisfied enough to seek a patent?” with “When I found I could take nothing more off.”

Perhaps the most striking feature of this guitar is its unique fret design, the frets are cylindrical just like majority of the parts of the instrument. This design follows the classic philosophy of form following function – a cylinder provides the smallest possible contact area for the string, allowing for precisely defined fret spacing and improved intonation.

Another unique feature is its tuning pegs which incorporate only two parts. It does not utilize mechanical gears to adjust the string tension, rather it uses a unique design based on a revolutionary aerospace coating employing Teflon impregnation of the base metal. The headstock also comes in a very straightforward design, but this time with improved string lock mechanism that keeps the string in tune and makes string changing easy and quick.

Capturing the sound of the guitar is the Electronic box(Ebox) which houses the guitar’s active pickups and electronics. Gittler designed it so that each string has a dedicated pickup, magnetically shielded for sonic isolation between strings. This results in clear tones and easily allow for quick synth tracking. You can utilize either the standard 1/4″ jack output or the 13 pin synthesizer output.

Other features include LED fret markers and adjustable bridge which are all packed into a compact instrument that weighs in at only 3lbs. Pricing information is currently unavailable, but they are now accepting reservations for the new Gittler Guitar. For more information, you can head over to Gittler Instruments.
