Jackson 30th Anniversary Soloist

Jackson celebrates three decades of super-strat shred with the upcoming Limited Edition 30th Anniversary Soloist.

Jackson 30th Anniversary Soloist

This limited edition guitar pays tribute to the classic design of the first Soloist guitars in 1984, while adding contemporary design elements.

The Soloist was created for guitarists that wanted to play better and faster while retaining the double cutaway shape and scale length of traditional instruments. Thanks to its comfortable compound-radius fingerboard and sharp looks, it continues to be the axe of choice for metal and shred guitar players.

It can be argued that many of today’s modern guitars resemble (if not imitate) the Soloist design. Now Jackson is paying tribute to the Soloist by releasing a 30th anniversary limited edition.

To ensure the quality of his limited run guitar, each one of them is going to be hand-built by longtime Jackson Master Builder Mike Shannon. This means that the quantity will be limited, with some speculating that only 30 will be built with each one commanding a hefty price tag.

According to the press release, the double cutaway body is going to be carved from poplar wood, and it will be joined with a three-piece quartersawn maple neck. The through-body neck joint is described by Jackson as “old skool”.

As expected, it comes with a shred-friendly compound-radius fingerboard with 24 frets. The ebony fretboard also features Jackson’s popular sharkfin shaped mother-of-pearl inlays.

In order to compete with modern day rock guitars, Jackson equipped the guitar with active HSS configuration pickups – the EMG SA1 single-coil for the neck and middle positions, and the EMG 81 humbucker for the bridge. IT is wired to three mini pickup selector switches that will let you engage or disengage each pickup as you prefer, and it has three control knobs.

Keeping it true to its roots is a top-mounted vintage-style “1984” Floyd Rose bridge. The guitar is available in original Gloss Black, Ivory, Ferrari Red, Pink and Yellow finishes, and it comes with a commemorative 30th Anniversary Soloist hard-shell case.

The 30th Anniversary Soloist is set for release on May, more information will soon be available at Jackson Guitars.
