Jackson JS32-8Q Eight-String Guitar

This guitar is one of the three new guitars made available by Jackson this summer, the other two being 7-string models.

This electric starts out with a basswood body carved into Jackson’s popular “Dinky” shape. The basswood body is paired with an arched quilt maple top and is finished in transparent red. The finish highlights the aesthetics of the quilt maple top, which gives the guitar a look that’s not normally available in its price range.

To support the guitar’s 8-string tension, Jackson crafted the neck from a 3-piece maple with Graphite reinforcement. The neck is connected to the body via bolts and it features a scarf joint. To make full use of the extra strings, the guitar comes with a 24 fret rosewood fingerboard. They used jumbo frets and designed the guitar to have a comfortable scale length of 26.5″.

The nut width is measured at 2.165″ wide enough for 8-strings but not too much that it becomes a pain to play. A bunch of pearloid piranha inlays will guide your left hand along the frets. The headstock follows the Jackson AT shape and has 4 die-cast tuners on each sides.

The guitar is equipped with two Jackson High Output 8-String Humbuckers, controlled by a basic combination of a 3-position pickup switch, a volume knob and a tone knob. Rounding off its features is the Jackson Stamped Steel HT8 8-String Hardtail bridge, it features a strings-through body design which helps improve sustain.

A 7-string model called JS32-7Q($395) is also available, it feature the same specs, only with one less string. The other new model is called the JS22-7 Dinky($285), which features a strip down basic look.

The Jackson JS32-8Q guitar is currently retailing online for around $435, you can find out more about this eight-string guitar by going to Jackson Guitars.

It seems like every metal-type guitar company is coming out with an 8-string model, but do you know anyone who actually plays an 8-string? 🙂
