Jackson introduces their latest 7-String, the SLATTXMG3-7, featuring an arched-top body and EMG 707 pickups.
The SLATTXMG3-7 is part of the 11 X series guitars that were added to Jackson’s 2012 collection, built to meet the needs of metal players.
Among the new guitars, this one caught our attention because it provides a string-through-body design via a Tone Pros Tune-O-Matic String-Thru Bridge, instead of the usual Floyd Rose bridges. By leaving out the typical metal guitar’s floating tremolo, you will lose the ability to control your notes with your trem bars, and you might miss your dive bombs. However this sacrifice will give you a guitar that is easier to set up, stays in tune longer, sustains and rings better and can easily handle aggressive playing. Its fixed bridge design and neck-through body construction provides you with improved overall sustain.
The SLATTXMG3-7 comes with beautifully arched quilted maple tops and basswood bodies. It features the Soloist shape, which is Jackson’s curvy take on the Super Strat guitar. It comes in three gloss finishes – black, slime green and the impressive looking silver burst.
The neck of the guitar is made of 3-piece maple with graphite reinforcement in order to handle the extra load of the 7th string. The fretboard is made of rosewood and has 24 frets running along its 26.5″ scale length. Triangular Piranha Inlays are distributed evenly on the neck, while adjustments and stability is provided by a dual-action truss rod. The headstock and the neck feature black bindings to accentuate its killer looks.
To please all the metal fans, this guitar comes equipped with a set of EMG 707 7-String humbuckers, controlled by a basic 3-position toggle. The hardware color is set to black, along with the nut to complete its metal look.
