ESP guitars unveiled the LTD Bela Lugosi Dracula Guitar, their first horror-themed guitar after getting a licensing agreement with Lugosi Enterprises.
This horror-themed guitar, which was unveiled at the Comic-Con International 2012 convention, is part of a series of limited edition and custom models.
ESP recently teamed up with Lugosi Enterprises, now run by Bela Lugosi Jr., the son of the famed horror movie actor. This new team up will allow ESP to produce instruments that feature classic, world-renowned horror-themed graphics. This move is not surprising because in the past, ESP has done limited edition guitars with horror movie posters for musicians such as Kirk Hammett, and these instruments generated quite a buzz.
Matt Masciandaro, ESP President, is quoted saying: “This is an opportunity for ESP Guitars to go outside the typical boundaries of instrument design and marketing. ESP has been very successful with limited-edition guitars and basses from our Signature Series artists, and many of these instruments retain high value based on their collectibility. We’re now working with some of the biggest names in the horror/monster comic and film community, and we’re excited to explore this new territory for ESP.”
The LTD Bela Lugosi Dracula Guitar is set for a limited run of only 325 guitars worldwide, and to complete the package, these guitars sleeping in their very own coffin case. The “Tales from the Grave” body graphics design is approved by Bela Lugosi Jr. himself and features artwork by Kerry Gammill, publisher of Monsterverse Entertainment. The guitar does not stop with just good graphics, it is a super strat that features a double cutaway alder body, maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, EMG 81 active pickups, and 24 XJ frets.

ESP also hinted on more partnerships with other monster/horror film and comic genre entities in the future, they announced that more guitars with exclusive themed graphics will be announced later this year.
