Roland G-5A VG Stratocaster

Fender teams up with Roland to create the G-5A VG Stratocaster, a traditional Strat with built in COSM audio processing.

It comes with the versatility of Roland’s V-Guitar COSM technology while retaining its authentic American-made Stratocaster design.

At first glance, the guitar seems to be your typical Candy Apple Red standard Stratocaster, but upon closer inspection, you will find that it is equipped with Roland’s digital audio processing circuitry. With this technological upgrade, the guitar gains a variety of convincing sounds and tones that make it an extremely flexible solution for those that want to experiment and play with new sounds.

The onboard Roland COSM electronics provide a wealth of modeled electric and acoustic guitar sounds, letting you change your tone instantly and giving you easy access to a library of vintage instruments.

In the past, it was easy to doubt these type of claims, but technology has surely made progress, resulting in great sounding approximations of instruments that otherwise you will never have access to. Aside from varying your sound and tone, the guitar also features instant alternate tunings and 12 string sounds for all your COSM guitar tones.

The Roland G-5A VG Stratocaster carries 25 pickup and instrument tones that are convincing enough to carry you through a gig without having to carry extra guitars. It can also do alternate tunings like Drop D, DADGAD, Baritone, or Open G tunings – which further increases its practicality.

Features:

  • Authentic American Standard Stratocaster infused with COSM technology
  • Modeled instruments onboard, plus unique pickup tones such as the extended-range “Bright Humbucker” and full, bold “Wide Range” single coil
  • Instantly accessible alternate tunings and 12-string sounds for all COSM guitar tones
  • Simple operation based on the Stratocaster design concept
  • Classic Candy Apple Red finish
  • 22-fret maple neck with rosewood fingerboard
  • The G-5A VG Stratocaster is a limited-edition model available at authorized V-Guitar Station dealers.

Controlling the G-5A VG Strat’s electronics is pretty straightforward, just turn the mode knob to find your preferred COSM tones. Some examples of modeled tones include vintage Strat, Telecaster, fat humbuckers, and even an archtop jazz box. You also get a variety of modern pickup sounds modeled via COSM, including “Wide Range” single-coil variations and two “Bright Humbucker” options. You also get quick acoustic sounds that include Steel and nylon-string acoustic tones, along with retro electric sitar sound. Finally, you can always go back to basics and use the standard single-coil pickups to bypass the COSM processing.
