The Ex-Megadeth guitarist is among the latest rock and metal style artist to join the company’s roster, and as such he gets a new signature instrument available for public consumption.

The new Chris Poland Signature Solo-6 FR Poltergeist is among one of the many new instruments that Schecter will be debuting at the 2015 NAMM Show. It will join other 2015 Schecter models that will be displayed at their 2015 NAMM booth, Room 210-D.

Although more popularly known for his stint with Megadeth and his feud with frontman Dave Mustaine, Chris Poland has crossed over to various musical styles other than metal and rock. And as such, he requires an instrument that can bridge various genres with him, especially with his current jazz fusion band OHM. It’s interesting that Chris opted for Schecter, known for their edgy metal and rock style axes, and then have the company build him a classic looking axe with some hints of his metal roots.

The Poltergeist comes with a mahogany body, carved into a single cutaway solid body shape that varies slightly from traditional LP style instruments. The see through black finish complements the flame maple top nicely, note that the top is carved into an arch, which adds to the guitar’s classic appeal.

The body is joined to a 3-piece set-neck and features the company’s “Ultra Access” neck joint design. The smaller heel, smooth neck joint, and big cutaway makes it very easy to access the higher frets of the instrument. The ebony fretboard features mother of pearl offset dot inlays and glow in the dark side dot inlays. Scale length is 24.625″, nut width is 1.625″ and it has 24 extra jumbo frets. The neck profile is described as “thin C”, which would be a more shred friendly variation on traditional neck shapes.

According to the company, “The Chris Poland Signature Solo-6 FR Poltergeist also features Schecter’s own USA Pasadena Plus pick-ups that are hand-made in Schecter’s very own custom shop; which adds a slight upper-mid musical bump with just enough output to drive the front end of your amp. The Pasadena Plus pick-ups are suited for everything from Classic Rock to full blown metal … and it does indeed clean up in an ‘Indie’ sort of way when split.

The pickups are routed to a three knob control configuration, with a master volume, two tone knobs for each pickup, and a 3-way pickup selector. Note that the bridge tone knob comes with push and pull functionality to fully utilize the Pasadena pickup’s capabilities.

Another notable feature of this model is the use of Schecter Exclusive Floyd Rose 1500 Series bridge. It features stainless steel parts for improved durability, re-tooled knife points for improved tuning and smoother operation, and a convenient push-in arm.

The new Schecter Chris Poland Solo-6 FR Poltergeist is expected to retail for just under $1,050. Visit Schecter Guitars for the complete specifications and other details.
