Suhr is now shipping the Mahogany Deluxe, featuring select mahogany and tonewoods with their brand of craftsmanship.
This limited run guitar features hand selected mahogany for the neck and body, and select flame maple for the top.
Electric guitar makers have long been using Mahogany wood for its aesthetic and tonal values. Its the typical wood used on guitars that helped shape the sound of blues, rock and even jazz guitar. With this guitar, Suhr aims to capture the essence of classic tones associated with mahogany wood, while instilling own mark.
According to Suhr, the mahogany neck and body gives the guitar a warm tonal flavor, while the maple top extends the frequency response, brilliance and punch. Although the effect of wood on electric guitar tone can be argued, there is no denying the natural aesthetics that carefully selected mahogany and flame maple give to the instrument.
Neck playability is another distinctive feature found on this guitar as with other Suhr instruments. Many describe the necks as having a vintage broken in feel while still being shred friendly. The Mahogany deluxe has a C slim shape neck profile with medium stainless frets.
The Mahogany Deluxe comes with Suhr’s proprietary finish process, featuring an earthy look that helped put them on the electric guitar manufacturer map. The guitar has a dark brown burst finish that enhance the 3/16″ flame maple top and gold hardware.
The guitar is equipped with two humbuckers, a JST SSV on the neck and a JST SSH+ on the neck. Other hardware include the Gotoh 510 bridge and Suhr locking tuners that pair up to provide classic tremolo sounds with improved tuning stability.
