Fender Slide USB Audio Interface

The Fender Slide is a musical instrument audio interface that lets you connect to iOS and USB equipped devices.

The guitar-manufacturing giant joins the flood of portable audio interfaces with this compact unit, featuring built-in AD/DA (analog to digital) converters.

What separates this interface from existing ones is its sleek and intuitive form factor. The round shape steers away from the rectangular or stick-like shape of its competition, and reminds me of the volume control found on some hi-fi speaker systems.

The most prominent part of the interface is the big volume control, which lets you easily see your volume settings and at the same time make quick adjustments. The smaller mix control lets you incorporate dry signal to alleviate device latency issues.

Inside the compact audio interface are AD/DA converters that according to Fender provide: “more accurate sound into and out of your device Dynamic Range Extension circuitry”. Although they works great with guitars, the converters also work well with other electronic instruments.

Matching its multi-instrument compatibility, Slide is also designed to work in conjunction with your PC or Mac and it works with iOS devices. It can be used with the latest iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, adding value to your existing smart phone and tablet by allowing for mobile recording and guitar processing.

Other features of Slide include bus-powered operation and bidirectional audio monitoring. It comes with two complimentary versions of IK Multimedia’s AmpliTube amp and FX modeling software, and a full version of the Rock Prodigy app, an app that helps you learn to play guitar.

Fender Slide is currently available for pre-order with a price tag of just under $100, it is expected to start shipping on March 28, 2014. For more details, visit Fender.
