GHS Thin Core and Thick Core Boomers

GHS expands their electric guitar strings offering with the new Thin Core and Thick Core Boomers, designed for two different playing styles.

GHS Thin Core

Known for their bright tone and powerful attack, the nickel-plated Boomers has been providing guitarists with roundwound strings for over 40 years. These two new additions add to the many existing guitar strings variations that you can get from the company.

While popular electric guitar strings are usually more generic or versatile, these two new GHS Boomers is the complete opposite. They are specially designed to meet the needs of specific playing styles, one of which target fast players and the other one are for hard hitters. This is an interesting approach that goes against the usual one-stop solution.

The GHS Thin Core Boomers have thinner cores that allow for subtly lower string tension, this results in improved string flexibility and softer feel. They specifically designed this set to match low action setups that give the neck and strings a slippery feel, resulting in fast speed runs being easier to execute. GHS says, “With these strings a player can dare to push the outer limits of pace and dexterity.” The Thin Core Boomers are available in the following gauges: Extra Light, Custom Light, Light, Thin-Thick and Medium sets with gauges ranging from 9 to LC52.

GHS Thick Core

The GHS Thick Core Boomers sit on the other side of the fence, featuring thicker cores that add to string tension. This stiffer tension allows for improved sustain and it better emphasizes attack and playing dynamics. If you are looking for a beefier thick tones that focuses on the lower registers, this is a set that’s designed specifically for you – ideal for classic rock and blues players. GHS made sure that this set is suitable for both standard and drop tuning, and because of its stiffer feel, you can attack the guitar harder. The Thick Core Boomers come in the following gauges: Extra Light, Custom Light, Light and Medium sets with gauges ranging from 9 to HC56.

To ensure that you get your strings fresh when you open them, the two new Boomers are sealed inside the company’s new “NitroPack” packaging. GHS is so sure of the packaging that they have an Anti-Corrosion Guarantee in place, of which they promise to replace any oxidized or corroded strings, free of charge, that is assuming you didn’t physically damage the packaging to cause corrosion.

Both the Thick Core and Thin Core Boomers are now in stock and retailing for $7. For more information, you can head over to GHS Strings.
